About Curtis Creek Campground (NC)

Curtis Creek Campground is nestled in the mountains at the base of the Blue Ridge just minutes from the quaint town of Old Fort and less than an hour from the popular city of Asheville. Located in the first tract of National Forest land in the eastern US at the site of an old Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) camp, the campground is surrounded by old growth forests and roaring trout streams. What Guests Are Saying

Curtis Creek Campground offers a clean and well-maintained environment with friendly hosts and beautiful surroundings, including access to a lovely creek and hiking trails. Many campers appreciated the updates made after Hurricane Helene, such as new tent pads, fire pits, and improved facilities. While some sites may have limited access or odor issues from pit toilets, overall experiences are positive, and many visitors express a desire to return.

Camped in our 17' TT. Campground appears to have been recently paved. Water at the campground. No water or electric at individual campsites. Wish we had more time to explore the area. Gravel road into campground from town. In good shape. Couple one lane bridges. We were small and had no problems. Pit toilets and no bath houses. $12 per night. Host on site. Would camp here again. Just be ready to listen to generators running. Quiet hours from 10pm to 6am.

Nice size sites that were level. Campground was clean, quiet and has a trout stream. Couldn't ask for more!

We absolutely LOVED Curtis Creek! Sites 13 and 14 gave us lots of privacy, prime access to the beautiful creek, and close proximity to water and toilet facilities. The vault toilets were cleaner than most public restrooms. We didn't catch any fish, but had a great time splashing around in the freezing cold water. We had a really fantastic stay!

I decided to try this campground after reviewing the location and ease of getting to hiking trials within walking distance. Great hiking for the camp site! The tent sites are more secluded than the RV sites, I use my camper shell as my shelter, but the campground was only 25% filled (mid-April Week day) during the 2 days I was there. No issues with the bathroom, it was clean and well stocked. Don't expect any frills at this campground, but if you want a to get away into the woods its worth the 10 mi off I-40. I plan to go back and use this campground as a home base to discover hiking around Black Mountain & Montreat NC.

Wonderful campground with hiking and an amazing creek. Kiln firewood isn't available nearby so stop a few stops back before arriving.
