Rangers & staff are putting in double time due to the cuts to seasonal hiring.
The park is, as always, a wonderful place to camp & spend time.
Visitors need to be mindful of their surroundings:
Pick-up your trash. Keep the bathrooms & shower stalls as nice for the next person as you would have it for yourself. Make an effort to maintain this beautiful place for the visiting humans AND the wildlife that calls this place Home.
And, PLEASE, remember to watch out for all critters & teach your children to do the same. Don't chase them please. They're just trying to live.
The pony Ranger was missed this year. We were informed that she was "on furlough". Laura is the Human highlight of the Pony Pen. Always personable & happy to answer visitors questions & concerns. Hope to see her back on the job next June on our return.
You have some excellent staff & we hope they will be recognized as such!

June 6th - 9th it was very warm (in the high 80s & low 90s, very buggy in the evening.
Beach was a lot cooler, camp site in general were good, bathrooms clean
Town only 3.5 miles away, an easy bike ride in.

We had a rough experience. We were tent camping and a storm blew in collapsing the tent in the middle of the night. Ok totally our fault. But dang could you please put in hot showers. What a miserable experience to not be able to rinse off from a day at the beach except in water I can only assume was piped from the arctic.

As beach camping goes, this place is the best. The campsites are not too windy or buggy, although both are just a part of beach camping. Multi-day storms can flood some sites, so be aware when you reserve and check weather - again, just a given with beach camping. Some sites are drier, windier, and less buggy than others, so take time to look at the site before reserving. Generally, the more sheltered, the more buggy. The Park Service does a good job of making sure that campers keep noise down after hours, which is greatly appreciated when you are in a tent or a pop-up trailer. They also take good care of the bathrooms and showers. We look forward to our next trip.

We camped in the A circle and the men’s bathroom has had a problem toilet for years. Otherwise, I would have said “excellent.”

General
- Ocracoke is accessible only by ferry or aircraft. Ferry reservations may be required during peak season.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators are allowed throughout the campground and must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad. If you have a large RV over 25 feet, you may have to park your second vehicle in the auxiliary parking area just outside the campground or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles may not be parked on grass.
- At each campsite, there is a limit of six people, two cars (or one car and one trailer), and two tents.
- After heavy rain there may be areas of standing water due to the low terrain.
- Biting insects are prevalent in summer months. Netting and repellent are recommended.
- Campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites.
- Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a site.
