Many reviews highlight the campground's cleanliness, helpful staff, and the peaceful atmosphere, ideal for relaxation and stargazing. Ocracoke campground is one of our favorite places to visit. We usually take a couple trips a year to visit this special place. I don't shop much, but enjoy all the local shops and art, and the coffe on the island is the BESt!!. Great place to shell....I am a shellaholic. Best place on the East Coast to unwind and just breathe.

The camp host was so kind and helpful. She greeted us on our first evening and made sure when knew all the key info and throughout our stay anytime we needed anything she was right there making herself 100% available. The hammock hills nature trail across the street is a must do. Highest point on the island is there. My son made sure we took a walk there every morning and evening our entire stay. Lifeguard beach is better suited for entertaining children in the water. Steep drop off at campground beach area.

Excellent campground. No hot water in showers but may not be a problem obviously in warmer months. I camped in mid May and it was freezing.

Great location just across the dunes from the beach. The sites are large and the pads level. A large camper might have trouble fitting on the pads, but ours fit fine. Warm showers would have made the experience perfect.

The campground is great. Just a walk over the dunes to enjoy the beach almost all to yourself. I wish they had warm showers but we knew what we were getting before we went.
