A "best kept secret" campground. Well-maintained, quiet and peaceful. Easy walk over the dunes to the beach or from the parking lot decked entrance. At least one bar of cell service for necessary calls.

I have been camping in this campground for 64 years.
Best beach on the outerbanks.
This last trip the volunteer ranger, Jason was very helpful with a reservation oversight. He did work it out thoroughly
with all persons involved. I personally thank Jason for going over and beyond his regular duty.

Overall we had a wonderful time camping at Ocracoke. The weather was great, with mostly ocean breezes and sunny days. There was one epic rainstorm but it was beautiful in its own way. I withheld a star in my rating for two reasons. First is the noise from camper’s generators after the 10 PM curfew. I’d prefer no generators at all but respect the compromise and wish that others would too. I think most campers prefer to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean, not an industrial racket. Second is the mess that some campers leave in the showers. Gobs of hair, toilet paper and other personal items. Ocracoke is a beautiful place that deserves better.

Ocracoke campground is one of our favorite camping spots. Sleeping under the stars, look up in the middle of the night and you'll see milky way; surrounded by fire flies, quietly blinking in the bushes; hearing the ocean waves crashing in your sleep and wake up and walk 5 minutes to watch every gorgeous sun rise on the empty beach. It's such a wonderful experience every year. Set your tent towards the winds and enjoy the breeze coming through your tent, it's the best way to connect yourself with nature and everything wonderful at Ocracoke. Thank you camp host and rangers for keeping the campsite so clean and welcoming to us all. Oh and don't forget to join the Tuesday morning Bird walk, you'll love it.

I come to Ocracoke almost annually, usually only for a few nights. This year, I opted to stay almost a week and have no regrets. I come for the minimalist amenities amongst one of the most beautiful places on earth. The yellow flies, mosquitoes and sometimes relentless wind are just further affirmation that this planet is in charge and we are just along for the ride. Tents have been lost and friendships tested on this island, but I am a forever fan.

This is second time we opted to camp next a beach. Campsite is very well maintained and cleaned 3 times a day. Great place to stay

General
- Ocracoke is accessible only by ferry or aircraft. Ferry reservations may be required during peak season.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators are allowed throughout the campground and must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad. If you have a large RV over 25 feet, you may have to park your second vehicle in the auxiliary parking area just outside the campground or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles may not be parked on grass.
- At each campsite, there is a limit of six people, two cars (or one car and one trailer), and two tents.
- After heavy rain there may be areas of standing water due to the low terrain.
- Biting insects are prevalent in summer months. Netting and repellent are recommended.
- Campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites.
- Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a site.
