Amazing location! Spacious, accessible campsites. Lights and warm water in the showers would be nice, but I understand this is a remote location.

We are frequent visitors to the NPS Campgrounds in the Cape Hatteras and Cape Lookout National Sea Shores. The Ocracoke NPS Campground is a well maintained campground with friendly staff, both NPS and temporary hosts. However, there is one significant issue that needs to be addressed. The trees in the maritime forest on the campground are well trimmed back from the roads and camp sites. However the trees in the exit from the RV dump station have not been trimmed back and overhang the road.
Large rigs should be very aware of this. On arrival our 5th wheel clipped our front cap and tore our roof edge on those trees. I mentioned this to the hosts to no avail, nothing was done during our stay. On departure we had to reverse into the double sided dump station. blocking the main road and the entry/exit from the dump station.

Being new to the camping scene it was a weekend of firsts for me but it was all positive. Clean and quiet. Coming back in July.

Great location! If you don't use a generator, pick the D loop; I didn't think the sound would bother me, but it was competing with the sound of the ocean.

Beautiful campground and the beaches are stunning. The only negative was although we had a campsite that backed to the dunes and had a trail directly to it the trail could not be used due to lack of maintenance and control of poison ivy which was growing everywhere.
