Rangers and Hosts were outstanding! 25+ years coming to this campground and always excellent conditions: clean, manicured sites and clean restrooms and showers. Rangers/contractors were very considerate of my family, as we were scheduled to be at and next to (three sites) the site of a major vehicle fire the night before we arrived. Relocated my daughter and her family who had been scheduled to occupy the fire site to a great site dune-side. Work on cleaning/restoring the fire site was invariably scheduled for when we were not around to be bothered by noise, dust, etc. Can't ask for better support than we received on what resulted in an excellent visit to the campground!

Everything was great. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is that D-Loop allows generators! This needs to be changed. People that want to run their generators can stay in Loops A, B and C!

Although the sometimes stormy weather was challenging for us tent campers, we had a good time at site 19, which offers quite a bit of privacy and shade. My only complaint is over the guests near us who brought far too many people and used so much unrecyclable styrofoam and plastic for their meals, which after the storms and wind went all over the place, and they made no effort whatsoever to clean up their messes! We and your volunteers had to do it. I think more instruction on “how to tent camp” and “leave no trace” should be emphasized please.

The location is the best of OBX camp sites.
If I were to make a wish list. Please make D Loop of Ocracoke generator free. Please evaluate the sites and gradually raise the surface level due to flooding during / after rain storms. The showers are not heated. Integrating a flexible line in proximity to roof would make a some what hot shower.

In the past we always appreciated that the D loop was a generator free zone, until last year. The last 2 times we camped there the campers next to us ran a generator all day long. Last year he would leave for the whole day. This year the couple stayed inside their RV the whole day. We could not hear the ocean and could barely hear each other talk. So disappointed. Plenty of empty spots in the other loops. We do not understand why this change was made but are looking at other camping options to avoid this in the future. With current solar and battery technology the need for generators is diminishing. Please, please, please give us back the D loop!!!!

I love this campground. As always, it was clean, quiet, and had good convenience facilities. The staff was very friendly and helpful and so were the neighbors, not to mention a short walk over the dunes to the beach. We will definitely be back.

General
- Ocracoke is accessible only by ferry or aircraft. Ferry reservations may be required during peak season.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators are allowed throughout the campground and must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad. If you have a large RV over 25 feet, you may have to park your second vehicle in the auxiliary parking area just outside the campground or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles may not be parked on grass.
- At each campsite, there is a limit of six people, two cars (or one car and one trailer), and two tents.
- After heavy rain there may be areas of standing water due to the low terrain.
- Biting insects are prevalent in summer months. Netting and repellent are recommended.
- Campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites.
- Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a site.
