Beautiful area with nothing but nature. Many times we were the only people on the beach. Camp host was great. Helped us change our reservation to a better spot. Dump station and water available right across the road. Can't wait to come back.

Always a pleasure! Camp hosts were kind and helpful, the mosquitoes didn't cooperate but never do and the wind kept things lively most of the week. The only negative, I don't remember the cacti being so plentiful. If you veer off path or on the fringes of some of the campsites on dune side you may be in for a world of hurt. Still, can't wait to be back! Thank you NPS fir this gem of a place in the Outer Banks.

I’ve been camping at the National Seashore for about 60 years. For the last few years we enjoyed staying at Frisco but the campsites have become more overgrown with vegetation, and particularly various kinds of cactus which has made it almost unbearable for kids and pets, so this year we stayed at Ocracoke. The campground was well maintained and there were MUCH fewer cactuses there. From now on we’ll be staying there, but I hope that there will be efforts in the future to control the cactus at Frisco so we can go there again too.

We had a great time. The week started very hot, then, rain and finally cleared off. The rangers were very nice. The restroom was clean.

Some of the sites were wet, so we called and were able to switch easily. The campground was beautiful and very clean.

Site D3 was very nice. Easy access to the ocean and can hear the waves while falling asleep. There were a lot of black flies so bring repellant. Bathrooms and showers just a short walk, and cleaned daily. Overall a great campground.

An absolute MUST!
Part of the famous Great Loop, starting from Norfolk, VI and camping @Ocracoke Campsite was one of the best tours I've taken on my Harley, solo.
That little island is... enchanted, for lack of better words.
Just DO IT!

General
- Ocracoke is accessible only by ferry or aircraft. Ferry reservations may be required during peak season.
- Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
- Generators are allowed throughout the campground and must be turned off during quiet hours.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
- A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
- All equipment must fit on the site pad. If you have a large RV over 25 feet, you may have to park your second vehicle in the auxiliary parking area just outside the campground or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles may not be parked on grass.
- At each campsite, there is a limit of six people, two cars (or one car and one trailer), and two tents.
- After heavy rain there may be areas of standing water due to the low terrain.
- Biting insects are prevalent in summer months. Netting and repellent are recommended.
- Campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites.
- Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a site.
