For people visiting the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Cottonwood Campground is a great place to stay. Located five miles (8 km) from the entrance to the South Unit of the park, the campground is open year-round. Campsite 065 doesn't have a flat spot for a tent; it's several mounds and a dip that would collect water. The one-man tent put up by the camper after us couldn't even sit flat. Also, a few of the tent sites are so crowded next to each other (065 and some of the ones right around it) there isn't safe room between the tents and fire rings to actually have a fire burning. It's also far from the bathroom (which can be good and bad). Overall campground pros: The campground has other spots that looked more spacious and flat. Bison walked around the campground too, which was fun to see.

After spending a week between the North and South units, it would have really helped to be able to take a shower. A lot of people have RV's with such amenities, but for those that don't, this would really help after a long day of hikes in hot weather!
