It was so incredibly hot and buggy when we visited at the end of July that we left our site early. Having no electricity and it being extremely hot in the camper through the night, we headed out. But! We loved walking to the river to enjoy the beautiful badlands. If the weather was cooler we would stay here again.

The site I reserved was not available due to construction. I was assigned another site. The camphost also told me I could choose any of the even-numbered sites without a tag, which was great as I was camping in my truck and wanted to be close to the restroom. I chose a great site, put the tag the camp host gave me, and put it on the post. Then I went out for a drive through the park for a few hours. Upon returning found my site occupied by a motorcyclist with a tent. My tag was still on the post. The new resident of the site was not visible. I drove around to the camp host site and talked to him. It was not much later in the afternoon, and most sites were occupied or had reservation tags. Fortunately, there had been a cancellation, and I got another site. Not nearly as close to the restroom. I stopped at the site to pick up my tag, and the new resident was rude and arrogant. Not a very good experience for a 70-year-old woman traveling alone. The camp host was great. The campground it great. The facilities are great. It is just a shame some people feel more entitled than they should.

The park is great, the sites are nice, but the lack of electricity makes a summer visit to this park pretty unbearable. We'll come back when there are electric sites.

So great to stay within the Park! Campsite was larger than we needed for our tent, but it was what was available at the time we made our reservations. Had to walk through campsites on the interior of the loop to get to the restrooms, but people were courteous. Restrooms were clean and camp host was polite and helpful.
