Our annual trip to Cottonwood Campground is always one of the highlights of the summer. However, it is increasingly more challenging to get a site. Previously there were some sites available on a first come basis but that is no longer the case as all have moved to reservation status. Attempts to reserve a site are frustrating as automated reservation programs seemly given first priority.
Within the campground, it is not unusual to see many sites "reserved" but sit unused as people's travel plans change and they do not have the courtesy to cancel and make the sites available. This past visit, many sites were blocked out for "special events" but sat unused. Really frustrating.

Loved the location in the park, shade trees, bathroom and dishwash station. But our site 28 was a poor design. Supposed to be a pull thru but there is back in site that shares part of the pull thru drive. Someone else parked on that side and we had to back out.
