What Guests Are Saying
Cottonwood Campground offers a beautiful and peaceful experience with spacious, well-maintained sites and clean facilities. Many visitors enjoyed the close encounters with bison and the serene natural surroundings, making it a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts. While some noted issues with insects and site leveling, the overall atmosphere and friendly camp hosts contributed to a memorable stay.

We stayed in site #65.
This tent-only section lacks shade and privacy, but we were only staying one night so it wasn't a big deal. It's relatively close to the bathrooms, which are clean (yet at least 10 degrees hotter than outside - instant sweat when in the bathrooms). The campground was quiet.

Excellent campground. The hostess Barb is an absolute gem.
Doesn't get any better than Cottonwood, our third time there.

Site 10 was had enough space that you could barely see other campsites, wasn't too far from the rest rooms and had a large pull through. The camp host was very friendly although you need to buy your ice in town. At the other end of the campground there were tent sites that might be more private and had great views of the river.

Quiet campground with lots of shade. Pick your site carefully based on your needs as there is a big range in the sizes and parking available. Some are big pull through loops and others are small parking spots intended to walk into the site and set up a tent.
This is an economy rustic campground. It was $20 a night and there is no electricity, water, sewer, OR dump station. We stayed at another NP campground the next day and it had electricity, clean, hot showers, laundry, and a dump station for $26.

Beautiful campground that is perfect for visits to Theodore Roosevelt NP, the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and the many trails in the area.

Rest room is nice but the light shuts off very fast sometimes. No shower. Sites are spacious. Make sure to have bug spray, the biting flies are bad.

Cottonwood Campground was easy to find within the park. I stayed near the little Missouri river with a great sunset view. The bathrooms were clean, and everything was easy about it!

I've never had easier access to drinking water while camping!!! The outdoor sink behind the bathhouse was great for dishes, too. Loved the nice, remodeled flushing toilets. Because there is such privacy around camps (due to the nature of the landscape and lack of trees), the convenience of toilets made peeing very easy for both the squatters and the standers. Great views -- we saw wild horses, buffalo, and lots of birds!
