Wolf Creek Campground (ND)

First night (Saturday) was great considering how busy it was. Campsite and campground were fairly clean and appeared decently looked after.

Second night (Sunday) everyone had cleared out of the loop except me and a group in an RV with several cars across the loop due north of my spot. Before sunset, they were speeding out of the loop, drifting cars on the dirt headed toward the public boat ramp to the east and back. They also let an amazingly loud generator run until it eventually ran out of gas sometime between 3 and 4 AM. Was pretty shocking how easily it was to hear it running out of fuel and starving out after the constant drone all night. I’m amazed the campground host didn’t/couldn’t hear, or chose not to address the shenanigans, considering their campsite proximity on the entrance road. I’d expect better from a hosted campground.

Likely won’t return.

Bathrooms were really dirty. Generator running all night. Nobody follows the quiet time rules. Told camp host and park ranger but nothing gets done.cut grass more. The corp doesn't keep it up like they used to.

Many great camping sites but unfortunately they are “deemed by Rec Gov” to use as more than one camper per site! So many more people would love to camp if this restriction was not in force. There is definitely more room in some sites to allow another camper.

Also The former “Group sites” were really awesome for extended families and we are so sad that is no longer available.

Nice campground!

Camp host needs to enforce generator running after 11 pm. Some runs there's all night. Need two dump station for all the campers. One not enough.

Fire pits are never cleaned out nor is garbage picked up in the campsites. For as much as this campground is booked you would think that they would go to electric sites like there is at other Core parks. Rates are great but understand if there would need to be an increase in rates if electric was added. Maybe consider adding an additional dump station. Rangers drive through but no interaction with campers.

Wood ticks were horrible

Our stay at Wolf Creek Campground was quiet, largely because there were very few campers during our visit. The campground is primitive, so amenities are minimal, and there was no campground host on-site. We noticed the sheriff driving through several times and only saw the park ranger once. With inclement weather in the forecast, it was concerning that no one stopped by to explain where campers should go in the event of severe weather, especially since there are no storm shelters and the vault toilets don’t appear structurally safe for protection. We couldn’t help wondering if the low number of campers was related to last year’s closure. Overall, it’s a peaceful spot, but visitors should be aware of the limited support and amenities.

The water was a little low this year but the campgrounds were clean and mowed and the weather was great. Our boaters found many sandy beaches to play on and all the sites in the lake were beautiful. Many things close by such as the Garrison Dam, the spillway, Audubon, and good places to eat in Riverdale, Pick City and Coleharbor. All in all, great places to camp when you want to get away but not too far away.
