What Guests Are Saying
Belle Starr Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a top choice for campers. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful lake views, and spacious pull-through sites, with ample wildlife to observe. Some concerns include limited restroom availability during off-peak months and the presence of stickers in the area, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

My husband & I had never been to Belle Starr before this trip and were amazed at how many lakeview sites there were. We were on sites W26 and W24 during our stay. Being a camphost for three years in Illinois at an Army Corps campground before, we knew that sometimes you could request an extended stay. So, we actually were allowed by the Rangers to stay 21 days at this beautiful lake. Our stay was in October, and the camphosts were no longer on duty but that wasn't a problem. The area is great, over air antenna channels were great, and the sites we were on were level and long enough for our 36 ft 5th wheel, our dually and my car. Verizon service was good. We will definitely be coming back to Belle Starr in the spring on our return trip from RGV!!!

Our location was a very good one. Loved being near the water. The campsite was very clean.

A pretty place. Campground boathouse had lots of midges and hook ups could use some TLC, but otherwise a lovely setting. Saw my first Scissor-tailed Flycatchers here, and that made it special.

Site was nice! In front of the water, near the main ramp, and near public restrooms. Ramp area is spacious as well as ample parking lot. The only thing about site C11 is that it's extremely close to C10, they have a weird cross layout (for my trip that was not to much of a deal because my neighbor at C10 was my friend and we were traveling together) but if you are traveling alone, having such a close neighbor could be little uncomfortable.

We choose these campgrounds because they have a good reputation. This campground is the exception that proves the rule. The bathrooms were dirty and spider infested. It's more than a little uncomfortable when you're trying to handle your business after using the restroom and discovering a spider trying to attack you in a vulnerable position. I wouldn't have minded it except the entire bathroom was dirty already and the spiders were everywhere. Also, there was no mention at all of the fact that there was a burn ban in place. It would have at least been nice to have had a "heads up" on that prior to our arrival. I was extremely disappointed in this campground to say the least.

Great park and clean facilities. Very little park host interactions leaves you feeling private and not so watched over.. however they were very friendly and helpful when needed. Downers was ,TOO MANY SAND BURRS/ STICKERS.. Not suitable to walk your dogs on grassy areas as well as tracking into rv. CAUTION!! DO NOT GO BAREFOOT!!! IMO. experience, close the park when out of peak season and have a control burn, then stay ahead of the grass not allowing it to seed. Problem solved..
