IT WAS WORTH THE COST
First: Be prepared for a lot of road traffic. It is a popular launch/takeout location for fishermen. Most fishermen towing boats drive through the campground responsibly, but there is a lot of locals I suspect, cruising the campground and dock areas that do not. The sites are on a hillside so uphill backing is required for most sites. They are concrete and relatively level. The water and electrical hookups were good. I had great AT&T cell service. I didn't use the restrooms or showers, but they were relatively close to the campsites. The dump station left a lot to be desired. It was basically an open septic tank that was really full, with just a chunk of sheet metal and a rock covering the opening, which was about 18-24" x 18-24". The water was located about 25' behind the "black hole" and needed a long hose to connect for flushing. As someone not averse to black tank dumping, this one even grossed me out. My campsite had a great view of the lake with some pretty sunsets and sunrises. The camp host was very nice and helpful and showed me to my campsite when I arrived. This was good, because the sites are not well marked. The biggest downside was the wind. Very high winds even for Oklahoma.
All in all, it was a very quiet and peaceful week for just relaxing and enjoying watching the many birds frequenting the campground and lakeshore.

Our site # was 21A, which was right on the water. However, I cannot give this campground a positive review for a couple of reasons. The gate attendant was not very cordial or helpful. There is only one restroom/shower combination (one each for men and women), and it is situated high on a hill and not within easy walking distance from our site. The worst part of the stay was the dump station. It is located outside the park proper, and is literally a ***t hole. There is a metal plate covering the hole, and once you move it away to access the dump, you are about 6" above raw sewage. Flies were all over the area, which stank so badly it's almost impossible to withstand. We actually begged the state park around the road for permission to dump in their park to avoid the dump station at Elk Creek Landing. In spite of the beauty of the landscape at the lake, I couldn't wait to leave, and never intend to go back.
