Decent sites. Unless it rains and your tent is in a wallered-out hole. Bathrooms are adequate but they weren’t cleaned in months much less the week we were there. No cell signal at camp (Verizon, ATT).

I chose a warm and breezy afternoon for a visit to the Refuge and had a quiet night at Camp Doris. Hiking in the special use area is enjoyable in the winter and early spring. On the south slopes of Wall Mountain, elk are relatively easy to spot in the late afternoon because the leaves have not yet formed on the blackjacks.

Great camping spot. I won't give away my secret. Someone left us firewood too. Lots of room between camping spaces. We met the camp host. Bob asked if we needed anything and wanted to know if we were having fun. Super nice man. We've already made reservations for June

Excellent visitors center.
Amazing area. Great wildlife viewing
Fun visiting the near by town of Meer’s for a meal
Nice campground
Bathroom /showers were not big enough for the number of campers, and the only one of the 2 with showers was dirty the entire 4 days we were camping
But, we will still return! And recommend this amazing area to friends with a warning that everything was great but the bathrooms need updated or at least cleaned daily

From I-44 take Highway 49 (exit 45). Go west 7 miles to the Refuge gate or 14 miles to the Visitor Center. If coming from Highway 62, take Highway 115 (Cache exit) north to the Refuge Gate.
Doris Campground is accessible via I-44 and Highway 49, with Highway 49 leading west for 7 miles to the Refuge gate. Additionally, Highway 62 is nearby, with Highway 115 providing access to the Refuge gate.
