This wilderness area has a lot to offer, so quiet and serene. The sites seem small but many have a “back yard” setting with a picnic table and fire pit that’s not apparent when you pull in. There is a wasp/hornet nest in a nearby tree which a future camper should know about.

The bathrooms were very clean and the water was warm in the shower the entire time! The campground was clean, though it was a little difficult to find our campsite at first (52). The squirrels were especially entertaining coming close to our site and very chatty, they even “barked” at my dog and the neighbor’s cat! The raccoons are very brave and will absolutely tear into ANYTHING left out (duh, they’re raccoons!) Overall a very lovely stay! Amazing sights and trails!

The campground’s location is centrally situated within the park, providing easy access to all trails and points of interest throughout the refuge. The facilities were clean and accessible. I highly recommend Doris Campground to anyone looking to decompress and unwind while enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife of southwestern Oklahoma.
