This is a wonderful place! We stayed in one of the walk-in sites for Memorial Day weekend (two adults, three kids). Those sites are particularly special. The entire campground has reasonably good privacy and shade because of all the oaks, and there are showers! Don't expect any cell service, and keep in mind that the fire rings don't have grilling grates but each campsite also has a standalone charcoal grill.

Our campsite was absolutely perfect. It was a nice secluded spot at the end of a loop and direct views and access to the lake through the trees. It was nice a shady campsite with beautiful tree cover. There was no water or electric at the site, but a nice charcoal grill, fire ring, cement picnic table, and a nice level cement pad for our little teardrop camper. The campground was clean and well maintained. The attendants were super friendly and extremely helpful. There was self serve access to ice and firewood at the campground entry shack and the refuge is absolutely beautiful. A hiker and wildlife enthusiast's dream. We saw plenty of elk, bison, turkey, and lots of beautiful wildflowers. I will definitely return. One of my favorite spots I've camped at so far.

The vegitation used to be more controlled when I went out there as a teenager, now it looks over grown unless it’s a camp site.
