Doris Campground is an excellent, secluded area with clean campsites nicely separated among plenty of large trees. It provides a great place to camp while visiting the refuge and surrounding area. Our site (53) was a little challenging to get our Class A shoehorned into, but we managed. In the evenings, numerous deer, raccoon, armadillo, and of course squirrel, visited our site. The visitor center at the refuge is a must see - very well done. The refuge is large and beautiful - with elk, bison, longhorn, prairie dog and who knows what else visible as you drive through. A drive up Mount Scott was worth it. Wish we could have enjoyed it all longer. Mind you, sites have electric (actually ours was 50 amp), some water hydrants, a good dump station, but no T-Mobile cell coverage at the campground. It took us a while to find our site, but a stop at the visitor center as we arrived would have solved that issue.

We did a cross country road trip and this was one of our top campgrounds we stayed at. Very clean and sites offer good privacy. Beautiful trails surrounding the lake and bison in and around the campground. Unreal. This campground is in the Wichita Wildlife Refuge and offers amazing surroundings. We’ll be back.

It's your standard state park but with lot's of buffalo and long horn cattle to see. Also the wildlife center is a nice free attraction.

This is one of the best parks in the system. While the campsite felt remote it was wel equipped (full service hookups) the museum and visitors center is very educational and the staff are wonderful. There was limited phone and internet service but if you knew where to go in the preserve you could communicate with the outside world.
