What Guests Are Saying
Washunga Bay is praised for its clean and well-kept sites, friendly staff, and a pleasant, quiet atmosphere, making it a popular choice among campers. Many visitors appreciate the new camping additions and enjoy meeting other friendly campers. However, there have been concerns regarding a long-standing water boil order and the lack of showers, which some felt should have been communicated more clearly.

Overall experience was good. The main restroom facility is very old and the showers, commodes' and lavatories are in very poor condition. the facility needs to be completely removed and a new one replace it.

The gate volunteer at Washunga Bay, Kaw Lake was wonderful. Rex never failed to smile and wave at anyone and he also had a very good knowledge of the campgrounds and surrounding area (where to get ice, gas and watch the fireworks show). He always had time to listen to any child tell him about their fishing or tubing experience. He kept the wind-swept trash picked up. Our biggest concern in the lack of handicapped access. Yes, there is a great "outhouse" type of toilet really easy for the handicapped with wheelchairs or mobile scooters but there are no showers in Washunga Bay that have room for a shower chair or even a wheelchair. As a government facility it is very lacking in this area. We drove our 93 year old parents over to Sarge Creek so they could get a shower and feel safe by using their shower chair. The lady at the gate at first was not going to allow us in because she said we could not use facilities at Sarge Creek. This did upset my Dad, not for himself, but for his wife. Our biggest concern is the lack of complete facilities for the handicapped. Grab bars are not enough!

The campgrounds at Washunga are always clean and well kept, as well are the restrooms. The boat ramp is sufficient for backing all types of boats and is well protected from strong north or south winds. We highly recommend Washunga Bay!

Perfect place to stay if you want to fish Kaw Lake. One of the busiest boat docks on the lake. They are upgrading some of the electrical service to offer 50 amp for larger rigs. Sites are large enough to accommodate your boat. Hate keeper is friendly and maintains the area well. This is the place we always go when camping at Kaw Lake.
