The view was pretty, and we enjoyed the peacefulness of the campground, but the water was DISGUSTING. Brown doesn't even describe the color of the water running out of the RV hook up faucet.
Then on our second night there, we were TOLD that the water was being shut off. No warning or mention that this would be an issue when temperatures fall below 0 at night. My husband and I both said that we can mark that Lake off our camping locations!

Campsite was reasonably clean and well maintained. Showers were hot but not very clean. Lots of spiders and bugs. USACE closed the showers in the middle of our stay for βwinterizationβ but that was not disclosed anywhere on the reservation website.

Thanks for giving me a chance to express my regrets. We made our reservation for October 12 through October 17. It was the water! We were never told what was causing the problem. The lake level was very low but we had been told the water was coming from a Kaw City, OK well. The last straw was on Sunday evening when I ran water for coffee and it looked as though it had already been ran through the coffee grounds! This is not good. The Corp was not watching this problem!

Most of the boat dock walk up needed replaced and some are missing. The water level is extremely low -four feet and needs to be let out by adding additional walk out or add an additional dock temporary attached to stationary permanent dock. There is not enough water at this time as kaw releases for hunting season plant growth or energy due to less and less rain fall. Additional adding an increase to the wake zone- most of bay. Rain levels are low however, the amount of release per day is triple what rain fall potentials. Fishing jug lines filled the perimeter anywhere from 10 to 60 feet to center of bay. Normal both fishing and boating share the water respectfully. This visit was different as fishermen complain about the boating activities due to increase wave movement. The east side of the bay smelled fishy and looked differently in color. Now the good: 50 amp 24.00 a night spot worked wonderfully and was clean.
