It was a quiet stay. The restroom was hot and humid as the vents and fans were not going. But the bathrooms were clean. The was was up so really could not fish from the shore but it had been raining all week.

We go to Birch every year on Memorial Day for a family get together. Love the sites and all the trees. Justin the camp host is great ! If you need anything he's available. You do need to be aware when you are booking there is water but not at every site so look for the little ** on the map and that will let you know where water is so you can fill your freshwater tank or use a splitter to share with your neighbor. The lake is great for fishing or any kind of water sport you want to participate in. The camp sites are roomy, and each has a nice cement picnic table on a cement slab so you're not sitting in the dirt. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. There is also a fire ring for campfires at each site , works great to keep the bugs at bay :) There are plenty of bathrooms with flush toilets and showers that are cleaned TWICE a day, you'll encounter some bugs and an occasional scorpion but you're in the woods !

Had a great time. Wish water was not across the road but that was the only drawback.

The campsite itself was great, but being right in the lake, with nothing to break the wind, it was very breezy. Of course that’s something only mother nature can control. We have T-Mobile and was pleasantly surprised to see four bars of 5G. The reason it isn’t getting 5 stars is due to the recreation.gov stating there are water hookups. There are water hookups, but NOT in every site. There may be one between sites that would need to be shared, requiring one of the campers to have a y-splitter. The nearest hookup to us would have required a hose of around 150’ long. Driving around the facility, we noticed other sites had no water hookup anywhere near them. Not a big deal, we just filled our 40 gallon fresh water tank at the faucet closest to us before backing in and used that. It’s just very misleading on the website

My issue is not with this campground. My issue is with Recreation.gov and the insane way of doing things and treating the people out here that pay tons of money to be able to enjoy the outdoors. Not allowed to make any changes to your reservation on the day of arrival even if the issue is the booking agents fault. Not allowed to get a refund on the day of arrival even when you had just paid 30 mins prior to calling for refund. The agent I spoke with was extremely rude and defensive and after me telling her the issue wasn't my fault and that I did not want the site the previous agent put in the system. I had previously stayed the last 6 weeks at 3 different campgrounds and lakes and never dealt with a booking agent so rude in my life.
