What Guests Are Saying
Crane Prairie Campground is highly praised for its beautiful scenery, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Campers enjoyed the spacious sites, access to the lake for activities like fishing and kayaking, and the peaceful atmosphere. However, some issues were noted, including mosquitoes, occasional noise from generators, and recent problems with the availability of drinking water, which could impact the overall experience.

It's as beautiful as always and after visiting here over 40 years I'm glad to see they are still trying to control the thatching ants. They are the only thing that ruins our experience and it's gotten worse thru the years of course. When you're trying to cook outside and they are all over you it's not very enjoyable. I'd like to see them fix the dock at the west end of the campground ...The remodeling of the inside of the lodge was great! So many needed things. Hosts and lodge folks were wonderful. Fishing not as great as usual but there was an algae bloom. Hopefully when we go back it will be better.

Great rustic sites, many are on waterfront. This has been my go-to for the last decade, and I’m thrilled to see an attempt is (finally) being made to control the fire ants.

Nice and quiet during our stay. Site was fairly clean. Beautiful reservoir. Mosquitos were wicked, though.

Camp ground was decent, pretty big campground. However they have thieves in the campground, the last night we had three fly rods stolen plus other gear stolen out the bed of our truck! Told the camp hosts, they acknowledged that there was other campers stuff stolen this season and last year!
Really discouraging and disheartening!

The camp hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. The only negative was the thatching ants problem. Hoping that issue gets under control. We were in site 108.

We stayed in blue 104, 105 and 106. THE ANTS ARE HORRIBLE! It’s a complete infestation. They bite and are everywhere. On the tables, ground, tents and even the hammock. The only time you got a break was after the sun set. The lake is a cemetery for an old forest. There are trees all over the lake. It’s like they didn’t log it first then decided to fill it with water. Some logs you could see sticking out of the water but others you couldn’t. You must stand to drive the boat and be on full alert. 104 had direct access to the lake which meant other campers thought they could also access it. They would actually walk directly through our site even after being told there is a trail on the other side. The only positive is the view and we could dock our boat at our site.
