This place is incredible! We would come back in a heartbeat. We stayed in the blue loop and walked to a little cove with calm water sheltered from the wind. A great place for fishing, swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking. We stayed in spot 78 and 80 and enjoyed amazing views of the lake. Lots of bugs, but we didn't care because it was so beautiful.

Camp host was very lovely and helpful, although charged a lot for our extra car which hasn’t happened at other campgrounds we’ve been to. Campground is very large but doesn’t feel super large, our site was very spacious, bathrooms were clean for the most part and cleaned regularly. Water from campground was not potable and looked to be directly from the reservoir with algae, dirt, etc. Crane prairie has great fishing but lots of old fallen trees in the water make it difficult to navigate by boat. LOTS of fire ants literally everywhere -giant mounds of them- was EXTREMELY unpleasant, they are all around the campsites and on the beaches of the reservoir which makes it impossible to truly enjoy the water. Forestry has tried to keep them localized so they were not on our camp site directly and were taped off with caution tape but they are all over the shore at the campsite beach. View from the campsite of the local mountain peaks was gorgeous.

Enjoyed Crane Prairie Campground Blue Loop. This loop is near one of the boat docks and shore line. Site was clean and near restroom. Camp, kayak, paddleboard and hike in the area.

I wish the weather had been better for my stay. Having the small store next door was great as I forgot to bring a couple of items for my camp. The people at the store were great and very helpful. Unfortunately, it rained most of my time there, and the rain churned up the floating weeds, so trollling a fly was impossible. Next time, I will reserve a site closer to the launch. I hope to come back soon when the weather is better. I want to hook up with one of those monster trout I hear are in there.

Crane Prairie Campground is one of the nicest campgrounds we stayed at over our 8 week trip. The campsites are quite large and we found ours to be very private. We only wished we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful kayaking experience between our Bluegrass group jam sessions. Also took in the informative and enjoyable ranger talk at the amphitheater (last one of the season - lucked out!). The only downside was the mosquito issue - pretty tenacious, even with using Cutter's. Love the spacing of the campsites and the natural beauty!
