Not the greatest spot in the campground when it comes to privacy, but the campground itself was great. While the bathrooms were normally clean and stickers there were some times where it smelled absolutely awful. Loved being in such close proximity to lava and little lava lake. Great views and nice trails around the lakes.

We had a very relaxing time while camping at Lava Lake. The host were friendly, camp site was clean and spacious. The lodge has new owners and they are doing a wonderful job bring the place back to life.

We stayed Thursday through Monday. When we got to the camp site there was no potable water working at the campground. There was no notice made that there would be no water. All camps had to go to lava lake lodge to get what water we could and the people who ran the lodge were not happy that every one was coming there for water. I was charged full price for the stay. They finally got just one water hydrant working on Saturday evening. It would have been nice to have been prepared, knowing water was not going to be available.

The 2 lakes were beautiful, as was the hiking. My campsite was not private enough for my liking. The vault toilets, which i usually don’t mind, were super smelly. I had a lovely morning kayak on little lava lake, and then i left, and didn’t stay for my 2nd night.
