Overall great place to stay.
We stayed in #7. Had access to the river, however the river was dried up. Probably die to the dry year we have had.
There is a lot of day traffic as people come up to enjoy the lake. Very popular for paddleboards, kayaks and small fishing crafts...usually rowed or electric motors.
The road coming in has potholes big enough to swallow your car so go slow.

Beautiful location and the views of Mt Bachelor, Broken Top and South Sister make it that much more enjoyable. Easy hike to Lucky Lake!

Little lava lake is a beautiful spot nestled in the Cascades. We had a nice campsite, a lot of shade, lots of space, and sense of privacy, relatively speaking for a campground. Had a great paddle on the lake. It’s a perfect spot for kayaking.The water temps had gotten too warm to fish without risking harm, but Lava Lake, right next-door, was OK. Shout out to the understaffed Forest service crew that kept the outhouses clean and well stocked!

It is so peaceful there. The quickest campground. No rowdies. No speedboats or drunks. You get the occasional party at the boat launch taking up launch space, but all in all ., patience prevails.

A beautiful view of the lake. The shoreline was nice. Early in the morning we had a delightful hike around Little Crater

This is a quaint little campground, nicely lined with trees for shade, and accommodates people of all ages and abilities . Water activities in Little Lava Lake include fishing from small boats or floating devices, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Wildlife abounds on the water and wooded areas. Great for birding.

We've been going to Little Lava Lake for years and years. Heads up, there are quite a few more people fishing than we've ever seen before? But still one of our favorite campgrounds.
They were well maintained and we loved our location.
Only issue we had was someone running their generator 24/7 the entire time we were there. It wasn't warm enough to need air conditioning, so not sure why it was running during the day. They got in their truck and left for 3 hours and it was still running?
Can there be some sort of time frame for running those??

General
- Prevent the spread of invasive species by inspecting and cleaning packs, equipment and tires before using lake or trails.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- During your time in Central Oregon, you can find wildfire, prescribed fire and smoke information at centraloregonfire.org
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. - Camping or otherwise occupying a single location (including leaving camping equipment and/or related supplies) for a period longer than 14 consecutive calendar days is prohibited. ‘Location’ means the occupied area, the occupied campsite, and the National Forest System lands in the immediate vicinity thereof. Camping or occupying any location on all National Forest lands for more than 28 calendar days total during a calendar year is prohibited.
- NO generator use is allowed in campgrounds.
