Hosmer is excellent. Mallard marsh is just ok. Reservation name on card at site was wrong. Caused us some stress the first night based on previous reviews that talked about reservation issues. Pull through spots could use some trimming. Our motor home is only 26 feet but barely had enough room to pull through. Signage and set up in general is questionable. Camp host was MIA the entire weekend.

The campsite was nice, and I enjoyed stargazing from my tent and hearing various frog and bird sounds all night long. I loved having a nearby trail to an alternative launch site on the lake (kayak wheels very helpful) and being able to avoid the horrendously busy public lot and launch at Hosmer.
The mosquitos in camp were ravenous and horrible, making it impossible to eat planned dinner of salad and chili, instead grabbing a quick sandwich and retreating to car and tent, to maniacally try and kill the skeeters that got in there. A campfire helped a little with the mosquitos, but I could only have one in the morning, as it was too hot at night for one (stayed during a heat wave in early June).

Bathrooms were clean, as were the campsites in general. Only downside was the mosquitos who made an early appearance.

Great quiet, little campground with few people, and a lot of space even when full. There is no water of any kind so I was a little worried about campfires and wished that there had been a non-potable water spigot of some sort. The camp host was lovely, our site was awesome and huge. (#8) All in all a great visit. We hardly saw the lake so don't expect this to be a lakeside, waterfront situation. Great spot to stay for hiking S. Sister for sure!

Nice campsties,lots of grayjays,chipmunks,golden mantle ground squirrels. Only negative is lots of dust from idiots speeding thru the campground.

We booked site #10 next to us for our friends, it was beautiful and a very large space. The campground is a real gem, we were fortunate to have stayed here.

We booked site #9 and it was HUGE! Parked our 20 ft trailer there and it was spacious and a truly beautiful setting. There was definitely enough space for several tents, too, if you have a group. A very short walk to launch our kayaks. Just a stunning campground!

Unable to stay. Someone in our reserved spot. Lots of confusion between what this site says and what the camp hosts say and how its managed. Would appreciate my money refunded! Had to find dispersed camping.

From Bend, travel 35.5 miles southwest on Cascade Lakes Hwy (46), then 1.3 miles east on Forest Road 4625. South Campground will come up on the right side first and then Mallard Marsh.
Mallard Marsh Campground is accessible via Cascade Lakes Highway (46), which connects to Bend and is approximately 35.5 miles northeast.

General
- The camping fee includes entry for 1 vehicle and 1 legally towed vehicle, any extra vehicles will be subject to an extra vehicle fee at the campground.
- Please Note: One RV with tow vehicle per single site or one vehicle per tent site. Most sites can accommodate 1 extra vehicle that is not included with the reservation fee. Extra vehicle will be charged a per night fee and collected at the campground.
- Fire Restrictions: Fire restrictions may be imposed at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed.
- During your time in Central Oregon, you can find wildfire, prescribed fire and smoke information at centraloregonfire.org
- Reserved Sites will be held until the day following your arrival date. Sites must be occupied by the checkout time of that following day to hold a reservation or the site will be forfeited and released to other guests. Once your reservation start date has begun, neither the Recreation.gov Contact Center nor the campground manager will be able to modify your reservation.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Camping or otherwise occupying a single location (including leaving camping equipment and/or related supplies) for a period longer than 14 consecutive calendar days is prohibited. ‘Location’ means the occupied area, the occupied campsite, and the National Forest System lands in the immediate vicinity thereof. Camping or occupying any location on all National Forest lands for more than 28 calendar days total during a calendar year is prohibited.
- NO generator use is allowed in campgrounds. Silent power banks or battery powered devices are allowed.
