What Guests Are Saying

Sunnyside Campground offers a beautiful and secluded environment, with ample space between sites and a peaceful atmosphere ideal for those seeking an escape from everyday life. The shaded location provides comfort on hot days, and nearby river access enhances the camping experience. However, potential visitors should be cautious of the rugged terrain and road conditions, as well as the limited amenities available.

Beautiful and secluded. Lots of space between sites. It's definitely a more rugged camping experience, but worth it if you're up for the hike. :-) One thing to be aware of with site 10, there are a lot of exposed tree roots and rocks that can be a tripping hazard.

The location was perfectly situated within a tree canopy, which provided good sun blocking and some cooler temps on hot days. There is also a short hike down to a nice pool of water within the river that flows into the reservoir. I would say this is a primo campsite for anyone who is looking to escape for a few days.

Great simple camp ground. Backs up near the South Fork of the Mackenzie river, it is not on the lake. Spots 8 & 9 are very close. The campground has very minimal services.Tents only. No water. 1 vaulted toilet. Water pumps are available at nearby campgrounds. Connie, the off-site camp host was great and keeps a tight ship. The reservoir gets lower every year. This year was too long of a walk down the boat ramp to recreate in the water.

Really quiet and nice campground. Close river access and not too far from the hot springs as well. Would definitely stay at this campground again!

For anyone looking for a waterfront camping with access to the reservoir, unfortunately this is not the spot anymore. Neither are any of the other campgrounds in this area. It’s been mostly drained down to the river with no way to safely down. The hot springs are close by but not great for a sweltering summer day. Used to love coming here but will be seeking other water spots for now on.

I was unable to stay due to the very steep road into the campground and huge pot holes right at the entrance. I found out later they were going to be filled in but I would still caution against camping here if you have a low clearance vehicle that struggles to climb steep gravel inclines.

That said, the campground is small and shaded. Pretty remote with no cell service. Great if you’re looking for a secluded getaway and have a vehicle that can handle the road conditions.

I miraculously found the camp hosts responsible for maintaining the campground at another campground nearby. They were extremely helpful and accommodating, finding me a more suitable location that was an even better campsite than I had reserved. Not only did they save my trip but made it even better!

A former assistant ranger by the name of Gaby was a great help. She knew a bunch of the history and she's the reason I made it to the hotsprings.

We had a really great time here! We stayed in campsite #10 and it was pretty secluded from the other sites. Short walk to the vault toilets and a short drive to day use area and hot springs. We would definitely stay here again!
