What Guests Are Saying
Red Diamond Campground offers a beautiful setting within the Williamite National Forest, featuring tall trees and native wildflowers, making it ideal for large camping trips. However, some facilities, like the porta potties, were not well-maintained, and garbage was left by previous campers. River access is challenging, and visitors should ensure they receive the gate code prior to arrival.

Excellent campground. There is not a huge amount of privacy at the site, since it's right along the road, but it is gated, which does deter some, if not all.

Red Diamond is a fantastic campground. A ton of space and very clean. Easily accommodated our 6 vehicles and like 8 tents. We probably didn't need the whole site, but it was nice to have our site gated so that passers by didn't crash the party. The only downside was the restroom situation. It's a couple of Bucks and by the time we got to them they were literally full to the brim. I didn't dare sit down for fear of coming in contact with the nastiness. The Bucks itself was clean, but too full to use. Something permanent would of course be the preference, but at a minimum the thing needs to be emptied more often.
We were also a bit bummed that the river was so not really easily accessible from the campground. We were thinking we could maybe fish from the bank, or at least sit by the river, but there was no chance. It was densely wooded with a steep slope to get down there, and then no room to cast or put a chair.
All that said, we had a great time, the host was fantastic, and we're hoping to be back over the years and see more improvements to the site.

We had a great time at this great group campsite. The only real issue is the constant flow of traffic attempting to pull. in and use the bucks while we are trying to social distance and keep ourselves (immunocompromised friends as well) safe.

If they don’t send you the gate padlock code, go ask the camp host at French Pete.
Nice area, but river access is a trek. Lots of huge trees and native wildflowers/shrubberies.

I love how long and spread out the campground is. Plenty of tall trees to tie tarps and a hammock too. But I wish it had an actual pit toilet and not two porta potties. When I was there a lot of people had also left a big pile of garbage next to the porta potties. It was also hard to get down to the water.

Both porta pottys were filled to toilet seats. Not been serviced for 2 months. Garbage at site from previous campers. Gate code was not given before arriving at group campground.

Nothing special for the money spent. The river has obviously channeled away from the site, where as it used to be right next to the location. There were only two massive picnic tables and they were not near the only ONE useable RV camping spot and there were only two useable tent sites.
