Being outdoors can help your mind and body at the same time and has powerful benefits to children. We love helping families, schools, and community groups get their kids outside to explore the forest. Whether they’re hiking under big trees, poking around tidepools, learning about streams or meadows, or just being silly on a sand dune, kids gain a lot from time spent outside. The Siuslaw offers many ways for kids and families to experience nature and pique their curiosity about the world around them.
Planning a national forest adventure? There's an app for that!

The USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region is excited to announce that the recently launched Pacific Northwest Forest Service recreation app is now available in Android and iOS mobile platforms.
The new recreation app is based on a mapping interface that allows visitors to find recreational opportunities near them. The app also provides information on hiking trails, camping, picnicking, boating areas, and more across 16 national forests, one national scenic area, and two national volcanic monuments in Oregon and Washington. In addition, users will find other important information on passes and fees, visitor center locations and office hours, and alerts on fires and road closures.

Marys Peak

On a clear day, from the top of the Marys Peak, the highest point in Oregon’s Coast Range, you can see both the Pacific Ocean to the west and many of the Cascade peaks to the east.

Beautiful hike and amazing suspension bridge! Easy as far as hikes go, the drive can be little bit crazy, but well worth it.

Beautiful sights down almost every trail, and I doubt I've seen 10% of what it has to offer, the dunes, thors well. This is a place we adventure often.

It is such a beautiful place with beautiful hikes. I could go to a new area everyday for a long long time until I got even remotely tired if seeing it's beautiful and diverse views...

Last summer my family and I did a seven-week road trip all over the West. It's funny, but we always talk about how much we loved Siuslaw; it is nothing short of spectacular. In a trip dominated by national parks with huge land marks, Siuslaw has no single attraction (like a Half Dome, Jenny Lake, Hurricane Ridge, etc). The overall splendor of the place is so lovely though. Cape Perpetua is lovely - we loved the tide pools and Thor's Well.
Honestly, Oregon is a stunning place - no shortage of things to see and do. But you need to make a point of visiting Siuslaw.
