Alder Dune is very close to Florence, Oregon, as well as the beautiful Baker and Heceta Beaches. It is situated in a unique landscape with some trails scratched into explore the lakes, dune area and interesting vegetation. It is nice to have this campground open in the winter months. Look for sites as far from Highway 101 as possible to minimize highway noise. The day use area is very well kept up.

Host currently is a total bossy jerk with attitude issues. This place used to be affordable several years ago. Price was single digit price now 17 plus for america beautiful pass. I question price as not much updating done.

Really lovely, simple campground - we caught fish in the lake, enjoyed the quiet, and will definitely be back next year.

$31 dollars to put up a tent for a night with just the basics. Picknick table and fire ring. water in certain places. At least the pit toilets were some of the cleanest we encountered on our 10 day camping trip. Also it is far away from the beach and the dunes around the campground are not high enough that you could see the beach or a sunset. You can still get some pretty pictures just not of the beach or water.

Nice location, very good tent sites. And a lake with both trout and bass.

Very friendly host. Smaller site fit a tent and a canopy and two cars though! Lots of privacy. No trees to hang hammocks.

Pros: convenient location, the lake is pretty, lots of wild Berries, cute little trails around the lake, very clean bathrooms for a campsite.

Cons: you can hear cars on the highway at night, the lake is quite small and we found 3 random fish hooks near the shore, the spots were tiny (we literally had to set one of the tents up on the cement) and close to one another (we heard lots of other campers, including some folks who brought out a home theater with amplified sound).

It was sufficient for our needs, but nothing spectacular. Seems like it is well-suited for RV camping, though.

The sites were quiet and private with lush growth between each, and the grounds and bathrooms were very cleaned every day. We were on site 17 with an 8’ x 12’ tent and it was just right. I could see how some of the other sites might not be as accommodating to a larger tent, but there were several sites in reserved and in FCFS areas that could. There is a little walking path that goes around the pond and connects to each site with a foot bridge here and there. There is also a smaller lake day use area that has a dune trail (starting at the vault toilets there) that is a bit longer of a hike in the sand, but really pretty and quiet.
