What Guests Are Saying

Alder Dune is a charming campground near Florence, Oregon, offering a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful surroundings, stocked lakes, and well-maintained trails. Campers appreciate the friendly hosts, clean facilities, and privacy between sites, making it a great option for tent camping. However, some have noted concerns about highway noise, small sites, and increasing prices, though many still find the experience enjoyable and plan to return.

Mostly quiet campground, good separation between sites, some road noise which can't be totally avoided. Pit toilets not great and they need to be on top of providing hand sanitizer in the wall dispensers (out the entire time I was there). Have been here many times over the years, always a pleasant experience and not far from Florence if you need to pop into town for anything.

What a wonderful time again, year 3 In campsite #6! Across the bridge and up 10 steps to the Treehouse, which is what I call the site. Hopefully next year finds me here again among the trees! Preston and Olivia were the perfect hosts at Alder Dune this year. What wonderful people! Thank you for a great camping experience once again!!

Most of the sites are fairly private thanks to good design and foliage preservation.

Mosquitoes are present but not overwhelming.

The sound of the cars on the highway and odd animal sounds (frogs?) take some getting used to.

Don't bother to hike toward the coast if your goal is a beach. The trails don't go there but they are still a nice hike.

My husband & I love this campground. Peaceful with lots of vegetation. The lakes are stocked with trout, there are pleasant trails through the forest and dunes, the birdsong is wonderful, and the outhouses are very clean.

Most of the campsites are fairly steep fore and aft. The one we used (4) was almost beyond the capacity of my RPOD to compensate for the steep angle. Although, the word "Dunes" in the name evokes visions of sea and sand, it is in fact in a rain forest. The site was adequate and the weather we had (incessant rain) probably skewed my rating. Oh, a bear meandered through while we were there. Staff went around advising the guests of this.

Once again, a wonderful experience at Alder Dune, campsite 6! A bridge, stairs and a nice snug "treehouse" is mine for two weeks, lovely!! I'll be back again next year, Lord willing!!!

Just love this place. Dry camping so there's very few giant, obnoxious RV's. Privacy flora between most campsites. On different visits throughout the summer snacked on salmonberries, thimbleberries and blackberries. Fantastic hiking out to the highest dune overlooking Baker Beach. Out and back 5.5 to 6 miles. Nice ponds throughout campground. Affordable place only about 70 miles from Eugene. Nothing like fleeing the heat and smoke of the Willamette Valley to a place 25-35 degrees cooler with fresh air. Already making plans for next trip!

A pleasant campground. The plants and bushes between campsites provide plenty of privacy. Alder Lake, which sat behind our site, was great to stroll around. We enjoyed our stay here.

Basic campground with a kind manager. She helped us out and was very accommodating. We came here without any reservations around 8:30pm and got a spot. There are paved spots, some level some not. They all come with a little area to pitch a tent, a picnic table and a fire pit. The bathroom has a composting toilet and some hand sanitizer. It had grab bars on the walls and was quite large. It seemed accessible/ ADA compliant. There aren't any electrical hookups, but they did have a water fill station. I didn't use it so I can't speak to whether it's potable. Our spot cost us about $36 for the night. We felt very safe and people were kind.
