What Guests Are Saying

Rock Creek Campground offers a well-maintained, serene camping experience nestled in a lush forest near the Oregon Coast, with many sites providing beautiful creekside views and a peaceful atmosphere. The campground host, Lee, receives high praise for his friendliness and helpfulness, enhancing visitors' overall experiences. However, some sites, particularly #2, are less desirable due to proximity to the restroom and road, and access to the beach requires navigating under the freeway, which may be a concern for some campers.

Rock Creek Campground on the Oregon Coast is low key and well maintained. I really wish it it would remain open after September 1 since fall is the best weather on the coast.

Lush small (12-ish sites) campground in the forest with a small stream running through it. Sites 5,6 and 7 are very close together without any barriers separating them - would be good for a family or group of friends. We had strangers on both sides which felt a little close for comfort, but everyone was quiet and respectful so it worked. Pit toilets only. Take a rough path under the freeway to the beach to avoid crossing the freeway on foot but it can be done if you don't mind crossing a small log bridge. We drove to the Heceta Head lighthouse and did a nice hike from there to Hobbit Beach and back (All Trails app), which we liked.

We've stayed at this campground many times and have loved it, but site #2 should not be a site. It's tiny and directly across from the bathroom. This means that all the people coming in during the day to use the the bathroom (despite the no day use signs) are making uturns in front of your picnic table all day and a few times, they backed so close to the mini bollards that they were only a few feet from out tent (located in the only tiny flat spot). Then you listen to the bathroom door until everyone goes to sleep for the evening, and have absolutely no privacy. The bathroom also has a light on it that remains on all night and lit up our tent to the point I didn't need a headlamp. If this is the only site available, don't bother staying.

Rock Creek Campground has some very nice campsites, but site #2 was yucky. Small, bumpy tent area, right on the road (unlike other sites there) and right across from the outhouse. I'd avoid it. On the plus side, there are some really nice sites and the location is great - right in the middle of the scenic attractions between Yachats and Florence.

Great camping spots along creek in old growth coastal rainforest. Go to sleep to the sound of burbling water and wake to the sounds of chirping birds. Beach within walking distance or short drive. This is a gem, I’m surprised and glad more people don’t know about it.

The campground was excellent. Sean was a great host: friendly, available, and helpful. We ended up reserving 2 different sites for our three days because the first site, which was farther back into the campground was not available for our other two nights. We were a little hesitant about reserving campsite 2 as it is near the entrance to the campground and across from the latrine. However, it was great…maybe even better than the first. We had both sun and shade, the music of the stream right behind us, and grass outside our motorhome. The latrine was super clean and odor free.
We highly recommend the Sea Lion Caves between the campground and Florence. We also enjoyed a walk on the beach across the highway from the campground. It isn’t far into Yachats or down to Florence, if you need something or want to explore more.
We would happily return to this campground (or to any that Sean hosts)

We also left a review on site 12. We stayed there first then, because it wasn’t available the second and third nights, moved to site 2. It was a terrific site! We had sun and shade, grass outside our door, and the creek singing to us right behind our motorhome. The latrine was right across the road and it was spotless and odor free. We loved this site even more than the first!

Lovely quiet little campground where you can fall asleep listening to the creek right next to your tent.

Avoid this place, there are much better campgrounds nearby. Stayed at #2 and it was just horrible. Vault toilet is just 15ft from your dining table, smells horrible. The tent area was too close to a road, just at the curve at the entrance, making me worried that someone would just hit us in the night.
