Due to the fires in the are we experienced several bears in our campground. There were no warnings even though it was known for several days before our arrival that the bears had been causing problems and did not appear to be afraid of the campers. We actually had one at the edge of our campground staring at us and was not bothered by the barking dogs, air horn we were blowing or any loud noise. We slept in our cars and packed up and went home the next morning. We had reservations for 7 days but due to the danger, we only were there for 2 nights. Camp host told us that the ranger called off the trapper that had been on his way.

We had a lovely camping trip this August at Diamond Lake. We hiked a portion of the path that goes all around the lake, rented a pontoon boat, walked to the lodge for breakfast several times. We we brought floaties and enjoyed be tossed around by the waves that occurred in the early evening. Fire activity had minimal impact on this trip (air quality was good). We drove to the West Entrance of Crater Lake and enjoyed hiking and incredible views.

After planning my camping trip for over a month. As the date got closer and closer there were horrible fires and I didn't even go. Unforeseen circumstance ruined my experience at Diamond Lake so I will see if I can't get some kind of a refund. I know it's not their fault it's nobody's fault but I had to scramble at the last minute because of the fire and smoke was absolutely horrific.

Reserved spot L9 group spot. Unfortunately, this was not a group spot and could only fit 3 small vents and it was very cramped ( other single spots were a lot larger). The site had a great view and good access to the water for paddle boards/ kayaks. I would recommend 6 people max at this site not suitable for 12 .

We stayed at K33. It’s a great spot next to the lake. There weren’t too many bugs. Restroom is nearby. No soap but there’s toilet paper. Had some rowdy neighbors but everything quieted down after 10pm.

Campsite H-46 is horrendous, that’s where we stayed because it was the only thing available when we booked, when we arrived almost half the campgrounds were empty but they had signs showing reserved. H-46 had no picnic table and is literally 10 feet from the major road in and out of the area. People were frequently going 45-50mph on. The campsite is also on a hill so when we were trying to prep food on our coolers and stuff it was all sliding down.

Beautiful, spacious site at the lake. The bathrooms with showers were new and very clean. It would have been nice to have some hand soap at the sink. There was a convenient “Internet cafe” with a skyline near our site which was convenient when planning our excursions.

CONS: If you’re booking campsites don’t trust the campground map, it’s way out of scale and doesn’t show the main road thru the campground. Also there’s serious elevation between the lake and the furthest sites. The sites themselves could use new gravel and some labor-they’re tired.
Pros: Campground Hosts were awesome, washrooms and showers were clean and in great condition. Scenery was fantastic and the lake, and camping sites along the lake were amazing.
