What Guests Are Saying
Fremont Point Cabin offers a stunning view and a spacious, beautifully decorated interior with strong cell service and nearby attractions. Guests appreciated the cozy atmosphere, especially with the wood stove, despite some maintenance issues like a non-functioning oven and a leaking sink. Access can be tricky; it's recommended to follow specific directions to avoid difficult back roads.

This is a nice place to stay. Very remote. It's knotty pine and beautiful. Nice view. Cell service is strong, gets Medford TV channels.

What a great place with a great view. Very spacious. Sadly the oven doesn’t work. And the pipe is leaking quite badly on the sink causing everything to get wet in the cupboard. Will be rotting in no time if it isn’t fixed. The wind blew us to sleep nicely. Didn’t need to build a fire.. though even if we did.. the wood is all too long to even fit in the wood stove. The axe is destroyed and not sharp at all either.

Cabin was not accessible due to snow and marked closed by the forest service, recreation.gov did not reflect that and continued to send "get ready for your trip" emails.

Had an amazing lovely wintery stay here. biggest thing to note: DO NOT TAKE THE DIRECTIONS SHOWN HERE. It can lead to some awful back roads. do this instead:
Coming from La Pine....
Take Lft at hwy 31 and go about 45.5 miles to NF 290(2901) you will see a sign that says Fremont lookout 18 miles up.... take Rt up that staying on that till making a left at NF3119.There are a couple forks but just stay on the same colored road that looks well traveled on
it was very windy, but easy to stay warm and cozy by the fire.

Amazing place but be careful getting there when coming from LaPine. Do NOT take East Bay road and go in the back way in. I trusted my GPS I took a wrong turn and was in deep trouble a few miles in. I actually thought I’d be stuck in the forest with no cell service and a broken truck or at least flat ties from all of the rocks I was traversing over. But I very slowly pushed on, and used my many years of off roading to my advantage. I was on old logging road that the GPS thought was a viable option to travel on. It had so many boulders, dry rocky stream beds, huge holes, downed trees, and dips that my truck was bouncing around like crazy. Luckily my truck has high ground clearance. Any other vehicle would be screwed. I also could not turn around because the banks of the road were high and it was so narrow that I had no choice but to go forward. Several times the road (path) disappeared and I had no idea if I was even going in the right direction. I almost lost my composure but luckily I persevered and made it!! It took my over two hours to go 10 miles. Just take FS Road 2901 and you'll have no issues.

Amazing view! Even with cold, foggy, rainy weather, the clouds would clear now and then for an amazing view. It was in the 40s when we arrived for our first night. We were grateful for the wonderful wood stove and kept it burning throughout the 2 days! The sunset created a beautiful sky. It felt like we were in the clouds! Everything was as expected or better than described. We hope to return to the lookout cabin again next year!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Fremont Point cabin. The views are spectacular and the road in is good.
Some things to consider for your trip:
1. We could not get the code to open the lock--no matter what line on the lock we used--and had to enter the cabin through a window. Please note: we used this same code in the lock at Bald Butte on the following day and it opened without any trouble, so not operator error, I think. We will report this to the Paisley FS station.
2. There are only two dining chairs and one is too low to eat comfortably at the table.
3. We replaced two gas lamp mantles but extras could be useful if you want to bring some. (We purchased ours at the Summer Lake Store.)
4. The only cleaning supplies are Clorox and a very small amount of liquid disinfectant spray. Also, the Swiffer needs replacement pads.

The cabin itself was wonderful and quite spacious. Considering the amount of use it receives and its easy accessibility, it was in good shape.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
1. The lock might not align where you expect it to. If the combination doesn't work on the first try, try it on another line.
2. It's a good idea to bring basic supplies like toilet paper and, if possible, mantles because about half of them had holes.
3. Make sure to restock the wood and set up the fireplace so that it's ready to light. This is particularly important during the winter season. In the logbook, there were several stories of groups having to stay unplanned nights and struggling to get the fire started.
