About Fremont Point Cabin

Fremont Point Cabin is located on top of the Winter Rim in North Central Lake County, Oregon. The newly constructed cabin, which was completed in the summer of 2015, sits on the same footprint as its predecessor, which was destroyed during a forest fire in 2002. Through numerous donations of funding, materials, and volunteer labor, the cabin has been rebuilt and is now ready for you to enjoy. While the cabin is available year-round, off season access may be limited to foot or snowmobile depending on weather conditions, as the roads are not maintained in the winter.

What Guests Are Saying

Fremont Point Cabin offers breathtaking views and a comfortable, well-maintained environment, perfect for enjoying coffee on the wrap-around deck or cozy evenings by the wood stove. While the cabin is basic and lacks a functional oven, it has a working stovetop and ample firewood available. Accessing the cabin can be challenging for some, but many guests appreciated the scenic drive and the serene, remote setting.

This is an incredible cabin! The views are amazing, we spent most of our time drinking coffee in the morning on the wrap around deck and beer/wine in the afternoon/evenings taking in the views. The cabin was very clean when we arrived and well taken care of. We will definitely be going back in the future.

One note, from our experience, it seems like the oven is not functional since it uses an electric igniter that requires a power source, there was no pilot light to be lit. The stovetop works just fine if you have a lighter, but we did not realize that the cabin description only mentioned a LP Stove top but no mention of the oven.

Unbeatable views. The cabin is very comfortable. The road up to the point is easy. The last 500 feet from the point to the cabin is rocky and narrow but doable in high clearance. Will absolutely return.

My stay was fun. The cabin was basic but nicely functional, with working stove, refrigerator, ceiling and wall lights and a wood stove. Plenty of firewood at the cabin and more in the woodshed if you want to chop some for yourself or leave kindling for the next visitor. There's an axe in the woodshed, but it isn't sharp - so if you have your own, much better. Gorgeous views, although my first night it was super windy and I ended up sleeping with my motorcycle earplugs in which helped. Road in was well maintained, easy gravel road, with the last 1.4 miles being a bit rutted and the very last 0.4 miles being a rough and narrow 2-track. High clearance vehicle for the last part. Beautiful forest with many aspen stands and wildflowers, big pines.

Great lookout cabin. No stairs so makes it very accessible. No lock inside the door so if you don’t feel comfortable bring the door blocker and curtains. There is no gate like in other lookouts so anyone can drive up to it which happened to us. Critters get into bathroom and chew on TP so bring a roll. Oven doesn’t work as pilot light needs electricity. Everything else was great and we love it.

This is a nice place to stay. Very remote. It's knotty pine and beautiful. Nice view. Cell service is strong, gets Medford TV channels.

What a great place with a great view. Very spacious. Sadly the oven doesn’t work. And the pipe is leaking quite badly on the sink causing everything to get wet in the cupboard. Will be rotting in no time if it isn’t fixed. The wind blew us to sleep nicely. Didn’t need to build a fire.. though even if we did.. the wood is all too long to even fit in the wood stove. The axe is destroyed and not sharp at all either.

Cabin was not accessible due to snow and marked closed by the forest service, recreation.gov did not reflect that and continued to send "get ready for your trip" emails.
