What Guests Are Saying
Haystack Campground offers a well-maintained and quiet environment, with friendly and attentive hosts who keep the facilities clean. Many visitors appreciated the ample camping space, beautiful views of Mt. Jefferson, and easy access to the reservoir for fishing and swimming. However, the campground is plagued by numerous mosquitoes, which can detract from the overall experience, especially during peak season.

Would have been a great campsite and the camp host was very nice, but the mosquitos were so bad we had to leave after one night.

We had a family group of 19 and had a blast. The camp host was very nice and helpful. We did not have a problem with mosquitos as expected. We loved the amount of space for each camp spot. Our kids ran and played for hours within eyesight. The swimming spot seemed yucky because of seaweed but the kids ended up having a blast playing with the seaweed. It wasn't slimy or actually dirty. Last but not least, star watching was amazing!
Places near by that we recommend to visit:
Steelhead falls is nearby and is a great hike with a beautiful waterfall.
White River Falls in Maupin is great. It is a bit of a drive but is a small hike and beautiful waterfall and safe water for kids to swim and float down rapids on floaties.
If you're up to it, hiking Smith Rock is amazing!

Mosquitos Were HORRIBLE... They need to spray before they hatch... Camp hosts aren't very friendly. I think it may be time for them to move on. Campground full sign is always out even when there are spots open.
