Haystack Campground (East Shore)

Camp hosts, John and Caroline were amazing. Very friendly and helpful.
The campsite was clean and spacious.

probably the worst experience we have ever had camping. the camp hosts were AWFUL (Caroline & John). they came to our camp in the early afternoon and asked us to turn the music down a little bit and we did right away and didn’t turn it up again after that. they again came back to our came 2 hours before “quiet hour” cussing at us and then eventually called the cops stating they’ve told us multiple times to turn the music off which is false and that we were out of control. we were respectful every night we were there and had the music off by 9:55pm. our neighbors even came over and asked us to turn the music up at one point because they were enjoying it. will not ever return to this site or recommend it to anyone else. caroline and johns employment needs to be terminated.

Caroline the camp host was pretty aggressive and way to over confrontational with guests. I was one of 6 campers during the weekend I went, she had seen my truck come and go multiple times throughout my stay. On my last night I drove down to the day use and spent some time at the boat ramp, she drove down on her golf cart and gave me a ticket because I didnt have a "day permit" ticket in my window. I ran back to my truck real fast and asked if I just got a ticket, I told her I was camping here and had been the last three nights and didnt think need to purchase a day use when I already paid for a campsite. She got pissy with me and said "how was i supposed to know?" Because I bought and paid online, i didnt have any receipts or tickets to put in my windshield. Instead of owning her mistake and apologizing, she put the blame on me and told me to " just write void on the ticket and put it in the box" and drove away on her little golf cart instead of driving back around herself to fix it. It was a nice area, but having camp host like this will prevent me from returning in the future.

First night was smoky. Second night was very windy with a little rain. Noticeable bloom along the shoreline for about 4 ft, then clear. Hundreds of noisy geese on the east shore. First night there was loud noise, music and yelling until 2:45 am from the group camp across the water at the South Shore sites. Third day brought a FAT rattlesnake slithering through our campsite. No campfires allowed in firepits put a damper on our mornings and evenings. Bathrooms and roads were kept very clean.

Upset that the websites were not up to date on fire regulations because when I booked it, the websites said yes. When I showed up, Camp host said no. There was nothing updated on websites about no fires. Definitely leaves a person wanting while camping to not have a roaring fire to keep you warm while star gazing.

Campsite Hosts were lovely, helpful people. The campsite itself was very well taken care of, toilets very clean, our site was raked and spotless upon our arrival. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

I love the group site, especially now since they are gated & not just anyone can come thru your camp

The spot that was long enough, but not level; was good for big rigs, according to the website, so we moved to 13, it was better, but upon looking at the surroundings, and deciding that it was not a good place to invite 2 dinner guests to our site, we decided to move on.

We had a pleasant and comfortable stay. Camp hosts were very attentive to their area and kept the bathroom immaculate. We will return!
