Really enjoyed Haystack Campground (East Shore). The campground is very nice and well maintained with clean vault toilets. The views are beautiful. The camp host was the most proactive host I’ve ever seen. Very helpful to all campers, constantly checking and cleaning toilets, etc. I would highly recommend this campground.

Our stay at Haystack Reservoir was great. Mike (camp host) was very personable and professional and does an outstanding job in keeping the campground and restrooms spotless. We enjoyed a hike around the lake, relaxing along the shoreline watching the different birds and sitting around our fire pit enjoying the evening. We will definitely go back in the years to come.

Lovely site on the shore with great view of Mt Jefferson. Water level dropped dramatically and the fishing was off, but we had a good time anyway. Very helpful and friendly camp host (but who was replaced a day after we left to open a different campground).

Planty of space. We went at the end of April, and it was very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful view from the campground, very clean. Just be aware of the water, it's not close to the tent sites, it's located at the entrance and no showers.

August was the wrong time of year to stay here. Hordes of mosquitoes feasted on me, even after I applied sunscreen. The camping site was ample with a bathroom nearby and the host was friendly and knowledgable.
I don’t understand why campgrounds at this reservoir are under different jurisdictions. If I had realized this campground was federal, I could have used my senior pass.

From Highway 97: Exit Jericho Lane and go east for approximately 1.2 miles. Turn right on Haystack Drive (FS 7130 / FS 96) and continue on for about 2.1 miles. The Haystack Campground entrance is on the left.
From Highway 26: Exit on Laurel Lane (FS 96) and go west for approximately 4 miles. Bear right at the intersection of FS 7130 / FS 96 and continue on for about 2 miles. Haystack Campground entrance will be on the right.
Haystack Campground is accessible via Highway 97 and Highway 26. The campground can be reached from Highway 97 by exiting onto Jericho Lane or from Highway 26 by exiting onto Laurel Lane.

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Fees & deposits
- There is a $7.00 fee per vehicle per day for the day use area, and no other recreation passes are accepted.
Vehicles & parking
- Off-highway vehicles and horse riding are prohibited in the campground.
Site types & loops
- The campground offers both reservable and first-come, first-served sites.
Fires & fuel
- To protect local forests, please do not move firewood; burn it near your camping destination instead.
