What Guests Are Saying
Haystack Campground offers a well-maintained and quiet environment, with friendly and attentive hosts who keep the facilities clean. Many visitors appreciated the ample camping space, beautiful views of Mt. Jefferson, and easy access to the reservoir for fishing and swimming. However, the campground is plagued by numerous mosquitoes, which can detract from the overall experience, especially during peak season.

Showed up to someone in our reserved site after a 9 hour drive. Contacted the Camp Host. The host was less than supportive with our situation. The person in our site was not going to move. Apparently, the best site in the campground is now available! The last and only site. Glad we fit with our 25’ trailer.
Water fill station had water. Interesting setting up. Bring your jugs.
One and done.

It was a very quiet and peaceful place. Campsites spread apart for lots of privacy. Seems like most sites had some view of the water, etc. I was there only briefly when the host came to greet me.

Great place to get away from the commotion at other spots around the reservoir with nicely spaced sites among the juniper trees on slope along shoreline with great western and northerly views. The hosts keep vault toilets very clean and are super nice. This is a great go to for camping, day time fun at the water, or launching your boat for fun and fishing (when the water is up and not in an algae bloom!)

Water was too low to swim or kayak in otherwise it would have been 5 stars

The lake was really low at the time we went, but regardless we had such a great time. The pull through spots were ideal.

Reservoir was down which wasn’t their fault but made it muddy and difficult to swim.
But the campground isn’t run by the Department of Ag. So they don’t accept America the beautiful passes and they charge $7 for an additional vehicle. I’ve never had that happen with an America the beautiful season pass (x2) before.
But they did ask us for the $7 which we paid and then the next morning asked us again if we had paid it.
Overall not a pleasant experience by location, the hosts, or the company that runs the campground. Would recommend staying at the state park nearby instead.

We ended up not staying as the resevoir was very low and the next camp site over was blaring very obnoxious music.

Never saw the camp host. A 10-13 year old boy driving a golf cart asked us everyday if we were campers or day users. Have never gone camping and not known who the actual host was, we have gone to Haystack for years but won't be coming back.
