I altered the reservation arriving two days later than I had anticipated. I got an email from the website acknowledging the change. But when I arrived the site was not reserved, another RV was present and we had to go and find a site in a remote location with no toilets down the road. Roads in this state parks were awful, full of washboards and rutted.

It was a lovely campground with only 12 sites, less than half of which were occupied in the early October season. I pitched my tent close to the river and let the sound lull me to sleep.

The campground is stunningly beautiful. The sites spaced far apart. Most sites are riverside. The area was clean and well maintained. The only downside is that if you have a camper or van, difficult to find a level area. But easily fixed work levelers.

We love this campground because: it's right on the Metolius River; has direct, walking access to 4 sides/directions of river trails; big, beautiful trees; lots of birds; (mostly) large sites; and is quiet. We've been mostly during the "shoulder" seasons of late spring and early fall (avoiding heavier use season). Nights can be cold but do-able.

One of the most beautiful places in the world! Some, if not most, of the campsites are not level. Make sure you keep this in mind and bring enough blocks, etc. if you have a trailer or RV.

Love the spot for 30 years now, had to rate only four star due to no water available. And it took the toilet overflowing before they managed to finally get it pumped out. But thanks to Dani for pushing to get it done!
