What Guests Are Saying
Candle Creek Campground offers a beautiful and pristine setting next to the rushing Metolius River, providing ample hiking opportunities and space for tents and hammocks. The area is well-maintained, with clean bathrooms and a good mix of shade and open spaces for activities. However, the loud rapids can be disruptive, and the access road may be dusty, which could be a concern for some visitors.

Pristine camp grounds. Water is fast running at this campground. Pit toilets, no drinking water. A lot of area to hike

Absolutely beautiful spot with views of the river and plenty of good trees for hammocks or setting up a zipline for the dogs. Nice flat areas that give options for either a couple of large tents or multiple small ones depending on your group setup. Room for at least two cars to park. The spot has a really nice balance of shade from the trees and a nice open area behind the fire pit that's perfect for stargazing.

While the campsite and bathroom were clean and we appreciatd the remoteness of this location, there were other issues. The pictures don't depict the Metolius River correctly. This section of the river are rapids, dangerous for children and extremely loud. It's been 3 days since we left and our ears are still ringing. You're unable to have a conversation without yelling because the river is so loud not to mention trying to sleep. The description of the road is incorrect, too. We were able to drive our Prius on the road without any issues. Also, the written directions don't align with the map on the website.

The campground was secluded and rustic. The only negative was the last mile or so that was gravel. It got my camper very dusty. Maybe the Forest Service could oil the road for dust control.
