Acker Rock Lookout

Truly specially place! Rugged and challenging but still doable by most. We loved it.

Great location. Lookout is pretty basic. Make sure to take everything needed for cooking and eating.

Would have saved us a good amount of time if they gave us the right combo in the email. The email, said the gate can be rather difficult. It sure was when they gave us the wrong combo. Tried for awhile, then drove around looking for cell service to call the ranger station....none. ended up driving to the ranger station and found someone that could find out the right combo. He said this happens all the time, we have a guy that likes to change it and not tell anyone.
Anyhow what a spectacular place!
I'd definitely recommend double checking the combo with the office the day you go.

The most amazing 360 degree view! It does get very hot though. Hike in is not awful but pack light! Bed is between a Queen and a full and is decently comfy.

This lookout is amazing!! An engineering marvel. It's in great condition and very comfortable. Spectacular views.
The only two downsides were the gate lock (a challenge!) and the logging operation just northeast of the lookout which went on all night (bring earplugs).

Everything worked. Climbers were respectful. Toilet is fantastic.

One night is NOT enough! Definitely recommend more than one day, and with a full complement of kitchen supplies, bring your own food and water and you'll be in heaven.
