What Guests Are Saying
Olive Lake Campground offers a beautiful, quiet environment with great views, clean facilities, and a variety of recreational activities like fishing and kayaking. While some campers noted issues with site spacing and restroom access, many appreciated the scenic beauty and the well-maintained grounds. However, the absence of a camp host and challenges with reservations have been a concern for some visitors.

This lake is so pretty. I had the whole place almost to myself. The first night I shared it with some people in the camp host spot and their families across the road. Brightest lights on an rv I've ever seen. Signaling space I guess?! And generator running all night and another one again at 7am? So brutal in a quiet campground. I wish there was a cutoff on those at night. Sounds carried like crazy Aaron's that lake when it's empty. I'll go back again for sure. Love this place. I'll bring something to float in next time though! And better ear plugs. I guess it matters if your not camping in your own RV.

Site 7. Park on the road and walk down into the site. It has another set of stairs down to the lake. Site states room for 25 ft RV, that is inaccurate as site 6 and 7 share a space on the side of the road. Would be better as a tent site. Lake was wonderful. No hosts. No wood. No TP in the vault bathrooms.

The spot for the trailer was along the road and extremely difficult to get in. It was so narrow that putting out the awning on stairs on lake side, the steps would have been dangerous to step off. Turning the trailer around we were able to put the slide out on the lake side, however if we wanted to set outside by the trailer we were practically in the road and were not able to use the awning. The site is very unlevel and had to use everything we had to compensate! We rented the spot for three days (prepaid) and left the next morning. We made reservations to supposedly the only sites available, however there were vacant sites when we got there?? We won’t be using Olive Lake again even though the scenery was great but not worth the frustration of trying to set up the trailer and our friends in the next spot with their truck and camper. We couldn’t believe these spots we consider RV spots! We left Olive Lake to another Forest Service park with the standards we have expected from every other campground we have used. Site 8

*Lots of mosquitoes
*Rv parking not in site, along road.
*path "around" lake was terrible..not established well...downed trees..
*Extremely limited lake access..compared to Jubilee Lake.
*Extremely remote area...so make sure to fill up on gas in la grande..we almost ran out!
*overall, even our kids were disapointed...we couldent see the lake from our site...and the sites were almost ontop of eachother! We had kids invading our site ..had to stake our claim with our Led string lights...
* we do lots of camping...and the experience itself was just "not typical" we didn't have a "terrible" time.
* A major positive to our trip was stopping by the old power plant! The care taker was more than happy to give us a free tour...Very very cool! STOP BY if you see a car outside...and try to catch a tour...some luck required to catch the older gentlemen! The areas history is very cool!
*we wont be comming back to camp, we could have had a better camping experience at a local state park. The roads were not the best, and deffinetly should have been marked better! We thankfully had a garmin gps to help navigate!
*esentially zero cell coverage for most of the forest roads

Very remote. Beautiful. Great location. Lake is nice. Fishing was good. A few years ago this was a near perfect spot. A little run down, but still nice. My only gripe is why make a reservation, a guy and his family were in mine. Refused to move. So I found a new spot. Not as nice as the one I reserved and paid for. This seems to be the normal. No host, no law enforcement, no forest service, and no cell service. I even complained to the forest service, there answer no refunds. I was not asking for one, but to not even care or try to get the free loader to pay. They wanted nothing to do with it. This seems to be a common problem, people stealing others reservations and the Forest Service not caring or enforcing their own rules. Unfortunately this will result in some kind of altercation eventually. Beware of reservation thieves, because your ob your own. Six and a half hours drive to meet an A hole.
