Our group was very pleased with the facility. The cabin had a very friendly feel. Lots of things to do..hiking bird watching, relaxing, Elk, deer,cayotes, Heard wolfs, errie sound.

Loved the cabin. Nice to have heat and cooking facilities. Beds very comfortable. Only complaint was directions given from Elgin. We ended up at the fish hatchery on the first try. There were absolutely no signs from Elgin to the cabin, until final turnoff. Came back via road to Jubilee Lake. It was longer, but much better signage and roads.

The weather was cool and sometimes rainy, but we were comfortable in the propane heated cabin. There is a good view of the Grand Ronde River Canyon from forest service road 050.

Very nice cabin located next to a meadow with wildlife passing through (turkeys, deer, elk). Very clean and in good condition with plenty of sleeping accommodations.

We found the cabin very clean and tidy. All the screens on the windows were torn, so we couldn't open the windows at night which was a little of a bummer. The nights were cool and the days were terribly hots so that wasn't too much of an inconvenience.

We arrived at destination No heat in building. Lots of fumes..Tried contacting People to fix problem. No success. Got a motel in La Grande Oregon. Went back the next day same results

From Weston, Oregon: Travel 20 miles east of Weston on Highway 204. Turn left (north) onto Forest Service Road 64 and follow it for approximately 11 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 63. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 63 and travel about 8.8 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 62. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 62 and travel for 3.9 miles to Forest Service Road 6235. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 6235 and travel for about 1.1 miles to the Fry Meadows Guard Station, which will be on the right.
From Elgin, OR, drive on the Elgin-Palmer Junction County Road for about 15 miles to the junction with the Lookingglass Road/FSR 63. Go down Lookingglass Road for about 2 miles to the end of the pavement; FSR 63 starts here. Continue on FSR 63 for about 4.7 miles to the junction with FSR 62. Turn right on FSR 62 and travel about 3.9 miles to FSR 6235. Turn right on FSR 6235 and travel about 1.1 miles to the Fry Meadow Cabin, which will be on the right.
Generally, Fry Meadows can be accessed by vehicle from mid-May to mid-November, and parking is available at the cabin. .
Fry Meadows Guard Station is accessible via Highway 204, which is approximately 20 miles west of the campground.

- Entry to cabin is by combination lock; please call the Walla Walla Ranger District prior to arrival at (509) 522-6290, Monday-Friday,
- Please bring garbage bags; this is a 'pack in-pack out' facility
- No pack animals or livestock allowed at the cabin
- For current fire restrictions and closures, click here
- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination.
