Stopped by on a trip to the Painted Hills. Not very busy at all, clean and well-kept grounds. Stunning scenery abounds. Took a bit of a hike up the canyon wall. Recommended.

Overall it was an amazing campground. Very relaxing not many people this time of year. Very quite. Beautiful views. Trash dumpsters. Water fill ups everywhere. Dog friendly. They have cabins available for around $50 except we prefer using our tent. Only downside is to make sure to bring bug spray. Market is about a 25 min drive. Easy access.

Well cared for newer sites with easy access to the river. There is drinking water available on-site which is very handy. The only down side are the ticks. Even in early season (it still frosted overnight) we found ticks on the dogs. It's not a huge deal since our animals are treated. Make sure you check your kids thoroughly at the end of each day and carry a tick key for easy removal. The group camp at the end has lots of space.

We stopped here for a picnic along our road trip and this is one of the nicest day use areas of the state parks that I have been too. Plenty of day use picnic benches, covered and open. A covered group pad with sink and prep area and grill. It set on an old homestead and has some of the old barns and corrals and an information/history cabin. The restroom facilities were new, very clean.
There are hiking trails and of course the campground. Perfect place for a day trip.

We went camping there for the first time this year and it was amazing! Just a great spot. No hookups or anything fancy but it was quiet and a registered dark place for star gazing. Unfortunately the moon was so bright that we couldn’t see any stars!! The showers are wonderful! The trails are great for hiking or bike riding. Unfortunately we didn’t bring any of our water stuff so we didn’t go in the river. But we had a great time anyway!! We will definitely be back!
