This place has it all! You can make a reservation and camp here with a tent or an RV. Enjoy sitting at one of the picnic tables underneath the eucalyptus trees and watch the river roll by. You can leave your car parked overnight while you go backpacking down along the river trail. You can day park and hike or ride your bike down the Deschutes River Trail and float back. You can fish. You can take pictures of bighorn sheep! You can have your lunch down on the rocks by the river and watch the rapids tumble. There are adjunct trails that go up high along the ridge lines and low along the river. There are plenty of places to sit on a perfectly placed bench for the perfect view. It's over 22 miles out and back if you make Harris Ranch your objective. The camping facilities have showers and bathrooms. There's always Rangers about to give you advice and help. Above all, there is one of the most beautiful places within driving distance of Vancouver/Portland area to get in some high volume, low intensity training with some of the best views ever! Winters perfect because the snakes are sleeping and the sun won't burn you. Spring is perfect because the flowers are everywhere. Summer you will need a hat and to watch where you step! 👒🐍
Even on a foggy winter day, it's a spectacular place the hike and enjoy lunch.

Very well maintained Campground. Only operating electric hook-ups due to season, bathrooms and showers are also closed, but Porta-Potties are set up, and potable water can be found by the Ranger Station. Hiking and biking trails along the river and ridges. Overall - one of the best Oregon State Parks I have stayed in.

Due to the unrest I felt at my initial RV park, I searched somewhere else to stay the night and Deschutes River State Rec Area popped up. I was pleasantly surprised I was able to get one of the last spots available. It was a back-in with a view of the river! Very nice from what I could tell tho I was only there for a few hours (overnight).

Great spot for camping. Park is quiet. Rangers are awesome! Watch out for rattlesnakes and ticks.

This is a very nice campground. There are pit pots or flushable toilets as well as showers. Camp ground is clean and there are some nice places to chill in the river. Family friendly definitely, the only thing I dont dig is how busy this place is. It is a very popular spot. Also, if you are here in the summer it is no campfire season, that was a bit of a bummer but overall a very nice place to get away!
