What Guests Are Saying
Farnsworth Cabin offers a peaceful and beautiful retreat, perfect for connecting with nature, and provides essential amenities for a comfortable stay. While some guests noted cleanliness issues and the presence of nearby people, the scenic views and stargazing opportunities were highlights. It's recommended to bring personal items like pillows and be prepared for a rustic experience, including a challenging access road.

Farnsworth Cabin was a big disappointment for us. The location is not as isolated as we’d hoped, with the Fishing Club on the same property, and people around all the time. The biggest issue was the mouse poops-in all the kitchen drawers and cabinets! We had to sterilize /wash the dishes and utensils before we could use them. The beds were not as uncomfortable as previous reviewers said. Be sure to bring your own pillows in addition to sheets and towels! The outside seating consisted of just one old picnic table; it would be great if a few chairs were on the lovely covered porch area.

I'm a New York city girl who has sadly never been around a campfire. And because of my multiple sclerosis, walking through the woods was not an option. My husband found the perfect place for us to enjoy the silence for a couple of days. To our amazement, without a single cloud in the sky, we got to see amazing gas clouds at night. Dream on, if you think you can count how many stars you can see up there. The shooting star was the galactic cherry on top.

Had a good time, but had to do some light housekeeping when I got there, especially the bathtub. Cabin also needed to be aired out, very musty.

Really cool cabin in the middle of no where. No AC but has heat, stove, fridge, shower, hot water, all the basics. Great place to get away for a weekend. Note: there's a mile or two of gravel road with potholes - don't bring a sports car that's low to the ground. Also the lock box with the key is by the front door

I do not believe you want to post this publicly.
When we arrived at the Farnsworth Cabin on October 23rd we found conditions were not satisfactory. The whole living room area had a lot of dirt and debris on the floor. There was also a bag of lunch meat sitting on the top of the sofa. The kitchen sink was dirty as was the toilet. We had to spend a significant amount of time that first day cleaning the cabin including purchasing supplies to clean the toilet. There were brooms and vacuums so we could clean things up in the living room and we had brought our own kitchen supplies. The bathroom sink stopped up immediately upon use and could not be improved with the plunger so was backed up the whole time we were there. Apparently no one had reported that problem with the sink.
I spoke with Laurie about the situation and she was trying to determine what had occurred for things to be in that condition. She encouraged me to request a partial refund because of the condition of the cabin and what we had to do to make it satisfactory before we could make us of what is a lovely space. We would like to request a refund of 1 days rental in consideration of what occured.

Beautiful cabin, beautiful site. Very remote! Easy to reserve and the staff members with whom I spoke were very kind and helpful.

This was our families third time staying at the cabin over the past five years. We love the location and how much privacy we had through out the week. We have always enjoyed hiking the trails and our kids enjoy playing in the creek.
This year’s trip to the Farnsworth cabin was a little bit of a let down. We arrived there three hours after check in and there was still people there. Once we entered the cabin the floors we soaking wet from being mopped and the whole building smelled of bleach so strongly that we had to leave all of the doors open until dark. The next morning I woke up with a migraine from the fumes and the floors were still damp. It was very humid in there which didn’t help with the floors drying. The beds have been the same beds for the past five years which are terrible. We brought a mattress topper this year but even with that it was difficult to get a good nights sleep. The satellite cable was not working at all which was something our kids we’re looking forward to watching in the evening and early morning. As we do not have cable at home and it is stated that the cabin has satellite tv. I also went to use the microwave in the kitchen and it was sparking and smoking. I immediately unplugged it and let the cleaners know about it.
In the past we have really enjoyed our stay there and we were able to over look small issues. But there is definitely some updates that need to be done to allow a more pleasant stay.

The cabin was awesome! My wife, 10 month old son, and dog went for a Friday and Saturday night and absolutely loved the experience. I couldn't believe how nice and well maintained everything was. The cabin was super clean and very comfortable. I even felt comfortable enough to walk around with just my socks on. We didn't use our vehicle all weekend, although you can drive to some cool places within 30 minutes or less. We hiked in the nearby trails, checked out the trout hatchery across the road, made some good camp foods, sat by the fire, and just relaxed around the cabin. It was a much needed break. The wifi was nice because there was no cell reception. The Direct TV wasn't working while we were there but we didn't care because we wouldn't have watched it anyway. Over the weekend there were a couple cars that came down the road to visit the hatchery, but we didn't chat with them and other than that we didn't have any interaction with humans. There are not other cabins nearby, you're all alone out there. We could not believe how awesome this place was and have all ready started thinking about returning. There are two big rooms, so this cabin would be perfect for two couples. Each bedroom has a queen bed and a bunk bed. The bathroom and shower was nice and clean too. Overall, I can't believe we were able to reserve such a nice place. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great place to get away. You just have to realize that there is nothing else around and if you have to run to the store it's going to be a long drive. However, that's what we were looking for.
