Outflow Camping

The location was really great but the volunteers managing the site were a little too much and it felt like the rules didn’t apply to them. While it didn’t say it explicitly on your website, when we arrived and tried to put up a tree line tether so our dog could have more range to go back forth on our site we were told we weren’t allowed to go outside our campsite. Meanwhile the volunteers had decor beyond their campsite. Also, they were beyond loud after quiet hours. We could hear them as if they were right next to our tent based on how loud they were talking

I have camped at the designated hiker/biker site 3 times and I have enjoyed a good night sleep each time. The bathrooms and showers were clean and the water was hot.

Nice quiet campground, the train sounds didn’t wake us. The hosts keep things clean and there is a lot to do, like biking and fishing.

I'll admit, I did not feel very welcome in this campground. It has a different feel than other federally operated campgrounds, and not necessarily for the good. I was riding the Great Allegheny Passage solo on my bike and specifically picked an electric site because I'd need to charge my GPS, phone, lights, etc. as I'd be camping throughout my trip to Washington DC. The camp host informed me that I'd need to set my tent up on the hard gravel driveway meant for RVs and I was not allowed to camp on the grass, which was definitely not listed on the site listing when I'd booked it. My alternative was to move to a non-electric hiker/biker campsite to be able to set up on grass. I ultimately had to pick up my whole tent and all my gear and move it across the campground which was a hassle. The camp host ended up reimbursing me the difference which was appreciated, but it was an incredibly frustrating way to start my 4 day trip and didn't really make much difference.

Aside from that, the other campers were generally respectful, but definitely be prepared to feel like an outsider if you hold any other political opinion than right-winged as they fly their flags very proudly (never thought I'd need to write that). If you are on a bike in the RV section, you will likely get looks and they will probably not be friendly. Overall I would not bring my family here and would not recommend if you need electricity while riding the GAP. I would look for alternatives next time.

A very nice and well kept campground. The camp post was very nice. The place was very well maintained. I would recommend it to anyone.

One of the best in the system. Extremely well kept, the host is very prompt and conscientious. All in all no improvements necessary unless the whole park is upgraded to water at each site or at least accessible to every third site or so. Of course one could really wish for the moon and hope for sewer connections at the sites but that seems to be an impractical pipe dream. Overall after staying in ACOE parks in almost every state from Georgia to Penn this is by far the best of them this trip!
