The Outflow Camping Area is located on Youghiogheny River Lake in the heart of the Laurel Highlands. The lake spans the Mason-Dixon Line between Pennsylvania and Maryland. Clean waters, forested mountains and steep-sided valleys provide an unsurpassed setting for recreational opportunities.

The campsites were level and well maintained. The showers, however, were older push-button style and tended to spray water everywhere except where I was actually standing. Staff was friendly and great location to bike the GAP trail and hike near Ohiopyle.

The sites were well maintained, the bathrooms were clean, and the hosts were super helpful and gave us information where to purchase firewood less than a mile up the road as well as a suggestion where to get some food right near the campground.

  • This is the Outflow Campground at Youghiogheny Lake, not the Tionesta Rec Area Campground at the Outflow at Tionesta Lake
  • Alcohol is prohibited
  • The release warning siren from hydropower plant will be heard in the campground
  • All sites are 100% reservable
  • Maximum of two tents or one tent and one trailer allowed per site
  • Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
