We camp here a lot and we love it. It’s is much quieter than many campgrounds and we love being right in the forest. Plus the day use area is beautiful and well-maintained. The one complaint I have is that there is not a dump station. Still, that does not keep us from camping here often.

Booked two nights and ended up not staying here. Sites are tiny and you need a vehicle with high ground clearance to get into the driveways since they drop a few inches straight down from the road. Considered a different site than the one we booked, but it was full of garbage from the previous campers, and we ended up deciding to go to Clear Creek instead. I suppose it's fine if you want something remote though and don't mind traversing the several miles of gravel roads it takes to get there. Overall just not a great fit for casual campers.

Love this campground, but it was quite noisy from people partying when we stayed in July, and the noise continued well past 10pm.

Quiet, remote area with little traffic and pet friendly. Lots of dogs, fishing and playing in stream that flows through.

Positives: The camp host Charlene was extremely helpful and accommodating. Our campsite was perfect, large enough for our camper van and one tent.
Negatives: I believe that the campground is mismanaged from the top, garbage was flowing over and stacked all around the dumpster, suggesting that garbage is picked up more frequently than every two weeks or get a larger dumpster. This promotes wild animal activity which is something that the forest service management is expected to be aware of.
The grass was getting very high, suggesting that maintenance mows more frequently.
The vault toilets for the lower campsite needs to be pumped out, the smell is unbearable. We cleaned and disinfected all surfaces just to make them usable.
I am a retired maintenance supervisor, I understand the challenges and frustration of budgeting due to limited resources , however I assume that this survey is for you to evaluate and find ways to improve. Oversight and routine monitoring and maintenance needs a serious evaluation.

Overall I would definitely recommend this recreation area to anyone wishing to get away from the crowds that I saw at other locations in the area. The showers and facilities near the beach area are fantastic, the scenery is wild and beautiful, there are nice hiking trails and fishing areas. I am looking forward to visiting this campsite in the future, hoping for a few aforementioned improvements.

Few level sites, many are grass. No shower house. Water not the best. However, campground is secluded and quiet. Convenient to Allegheny trail system.
