What Guests Are Saying

Red Oak Campground offers a well-maintained environment with spacious sites and clean bathrooms, along with a variety of fun activities for families. Many guests commend the friendly and accommodating staff who ensure a pleasant stay. However, some visitors experienced issues with reservation confirmation, the absence of linen, and changes to services like cart rentals, which could benefit from better communication.

Three days before we were due to arrive, we called the phone number listed on their website to confirm our reservation. An Asian sounding lady answered the phone and was unable to find our reservation despite giving her all the information we could.. Eventually after sounding frustrated she told us that she found it and everything was “good to go” despite not being able to confirm our rental spot with us and insisting our reservation was paid in full (even though we knew it wasn’t) we paid a portion when we booked and were supposed to pay the rest at check-in, so we just gave up on that phone call, it sounded like she was frustrated and lying to us in order to get off the phone.

When we arrived to check-in, it took the lady working the desk about 10-12 minutes to check us in because she also could not find our reservation, but found it eventually (it seems none of the staff have an easy time working their own system) Immediately after checking in, we asked for a key to the rental spot and were told that keys are no longer given out and that we can get in, it’s unlocked. In previous years we had always been given a key… So any time we left our rental.. We had to gather all of our valuable items and lock them in our vehicles.. Which was a pain to do each time..

When we first entered our rental, we noticed there was absolutely no linen, no bedding or towels, assuming it was a housekeeper error, my partner went to the main office where we learned linen is no longer provided in the rentals… With tax included we paid almost 40$ to rent linen for 2 days. One of the staff members told my partner that they no longer provide linen to guests because “Someone who works with hotels and Airbnb’s told them not to.”

Day 2 into our stay we called up to the office to rent one of their carts to drive around the camp site but were told that they no longer do that either…?

It would have been nice to see something online or to receive an email to warn us about all these lousy changes that were made…….

This season was definitely not as good as our previous stays…

I would highly recommend that you go there I personally never stayed there myself. The prices are reasonable and all the workers there including the people who own it are wonderful to work with. I hear they have big plans to even further update the campground to have more activities for not just kids but adults to participate in. The food truck they have there the man who cooked last summer was a delight to talk to while he worked. They go above and beyond to make your experience there a splendid one.
